You see how well you play when don't have a defense in front of you and then your own fan base makes death threats towards your wife and newborn child.
Not to mention he watched his best friend die in front of him. It doesn't matter how long ago it was, that's not something that you easily recover from. Even without all the pressure of being a professional athlete.
It's easy to see how he could be off. I'm not judging him to harshly this season.
1) I don’t condone any threats by fans. I don’t condone threats against anyone.
2) all fans were saddened by Kivy’s death and I have no doubt it’s hard to overcome when it’s your close friend and while I don’t ever expect him to forget at some point he needs to overcome if he wants to be an NHL goalie. Maybe he needs a different goalie coach, or maybe he needs a change of scenery but if he can’t make the situation in Columbus work the current scenario is untenable in the long term.
In all seriousness, how many years do you give him a pass?
Like I said, I
percent want him to succeed but that doesn’t change the narrative. He’s been beyond bad and gotten progressively worse year after year.
