Point percentage 9th. in the league.

Been falling for a couple months, long gone are the days they were over .700.

I expect they'll stay in the playoffs they'd really have to collapse and the Islanders would have to keep playing at their 7-2-1 pace.

At this point maybe it is just about killing 2 hours in the day until the real season begins ... with the Leafs.

Really depends on Panthers goaltender, he plays well Leafs lose.
What a shame. After November you'd swear this team was destined to do big things.

I see they won a couple back in November, but it seems they often struggle on Sunday games.

Either the A Team shows up and we look like a credible contender and win this one in convincing fashion like when they lit up Colorado early in the season or we get run out of the building like the Nashville game. No in between.

The leafs should only be playing Simmonds against teams that pose a threat physically like Florida. There is no reason for him to be playing against teams like the Habs or Jersey.
The problem is, he is not even capable of being a physical player anymore because he is always two steps behind the play. He strikes no fear into our opponents and is wasting a roster spot.

Pretty much this.

People get too carried away with what happens in the regular season, none of it means anything when the playoffs start. As the playoffs get closer, the games might give us some indication of what we might expect in the playoffs but the games in November, not so much.

OMG did some of us ever get ridiculed back then for saying so. This is the best Leaf team ever, blah blah blah, blah blah blah ...

Leafs trend to play to the level of their competition, so since Florida is the real deal and top team I suspect we should see a good Leafs team show up in this one.

The biggest question mark is in net as it has been for months now for the Leafs.

Its a bit of a Cinderella story for the Leafs who hope to win this game, with a goalie they put on waivers last week in hopes of getting rid of, and now are counting on again in this crucial inter-divisional match-up.

When they were going well they were over .700, by a fair amount.

Colorado .746
Carolina .715
Florida .734

They are in the 2nd. tier now, with teams like Rangers, Boston, Pittsburgh.

Still a good team, just not in the conversation as best in the league.
Yup like most seasons the last few years they start off great but as the season wears on and the serious teams get down to serious work our Leafs fade because they seem incapable of putting in the hard work to up their game

No we were not. I believe we were 7th yesterday

Could be, I remember we were 4th at some point this week, I believe it was just a couple of days ago.

People get too hung up on our exact place in the standings. The teams from 4-10 are so tightly packed ATM, may as well say we're in that pack of teams and leave it at that.

Perfect summary.

What have you done for me lately?

Boston is 15-3-2 in their last 20 games securing 32 of a possible 40 points and one of the hottest teams in the league playing .800 hockey over that stretch.

Our Leafs are 10-8-2 in their last 20 games securing 22 of a possible 40 points = .550 hockey. Just 2 OTL away from playing .500 hockey for the last quarter of a season.

With recent losses to non playoff teams Monteal X 2, Buffalo X 2, Vancouver X 2, Columbus, Arizona this feels more like a .500 hockey team than the one that got off to a hot start going 12-2-0 in November.

These 2 teams are on completely different trajectories when considering recent play with one charging towards a top tier and the other falling to lower tier.

I mean yeah, like most other teams, we've dropped back off a 115+ point pace that's only been hit 12 times in the cap era.

But we were still 4th yesterday, and I think that's the highest we've been all season, so it's not like we've been plummeting down the rankings despite horrific, league-worst goaltending for multiple months. Even the top 3 have been dropping; just slower.

Hope we see a shake-up tonight with JT-Willy. Can't have a lame effort against a team this good in Florida. Keep Kerfy-Willy together. Give JT some big bodies that can fly (Kampfs wingers). Essentially just a JT and Kampf swap.
Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Engvall-Tavares-Mikheyev
Kerfoot-Kampf-Nylander
Blackwell-Spezza-Simmonds

Will certainly be nice to get Kase back. Absolute worker bee out there

I think they will just swap Nylander and Mikheyev like they did in the last game for now. If we can get Abruzzese or Robertson up instead of Simmonds, then we may have a line like Kerfoot - Spezza - Nylander with Abruzzese - Tavares - Blackwell together. Abruzzese is an excellent playmaker who is smart enough to know how to use Tavares properly.

For now though, Mikheyev deserves the promotion and then the Leafs will likely not use that 4th line very often. Blackwell will eventually start to get more ice time, and may even gets some shifts on the 2nd or 3rd line, but for now, he is being dragged down by a pair of guys who can't handle double-digit ES minutes.

I really hope we put up a solid win.

It’s time to go big game hunting. Expecting a response game from Willy as well.
I like how the more comfortable Keefe has gotten as an NHL head coach, that he's not afraid to call it like it is. Hes done so multiple times now without being vicious about it, but not sugar coating things either. Flat out said it hasn't been good enough from Nylander, and then refused further questions saying he wasn't going to pile on him. I like that. It's okay to admit when it's not up to the standard expected. Same thing with Mrazek

Need to take the goalies eyes, Allen saw most of the shots last night.

I think the outcome of this game is decided by Mrazek..

If slightly above average Mrazek shows up, we win.

If beer league Mrazek shows up, he gets pulled.
