It also shoots a huge hole in the wanna be here argument. It appears that you must want to play here and take a discount or you are expendable. Mitts never complained about his handling, took the demotion to Roch maturely, and worked on his game year to year. Guess we do not want to send that message to the “young core.”I think my irritation is that this is the first time I didn't see this coming, despite the noise. I thought Casey was a huge part of the run last spring, covered when Tage went down, and really seemed to fit this team well. It's less about what they got. I am also worried that Tage may have been a one-hit wonder, and thought Casey was a good backup until some of the younger guys could get here.
I completely understand, but sometimes, when you have a guy with that type of potential become available, even if it does not fit right now, it’s hard to say no.That's just it.... with Dahlin and Power around, they're going to be eating up minutes.
Nobody on this side of the trade really understands where Byram fits into the roster. We definitely didn't have a glaring need for him.
but we already had that player, who was already reaching his potential, and it did fit right nowI completely understand, but sometimes, when you have a guy with that type of potential become available, even if it does not fit right now, it’s hard to say no.
He’s also younger and going to cost less as well, which helps Buffalo find forwards
Our defensive lapses have remained an issue, so I'd prefer someone that can help cover Dahlin's offensive tendencies, not force Dahlin to have to cover for someone else.why not Bo-Dahls? everyones been ok w/ Dahls RD...
As someone out here on the West Coast, I have seen a lot of Colorado games, I truly believe that he’s right below Dahlin, ahead of power.but we already had that player, who was already reaching his potential, and it did fit right now
and we traded him for a kay and peele skit that we had 3 of already
Then you haven't been watching Dahlin. Right below? It's not close. As someone out here on the West Coast, I have seen a lot of Colorado games, I truly believe that he’s right below Dahlin, ahead of power.
He’s a special player, you guys are gonna notice that right away
my devils advocate is everybody is ok with Sammy-Dahls, so why not Bo-Dahls going forward?
as far as I'm concerned Sammy should be 3LD taking the EJ role until he proves healthy for extended time...and maybe Joker is still upgraded at RD with a more balanced type.
I'll miss Mitts and get not being thrilled, but I guess I'll wait to see if anything else comes down the pipe.
more than our highest scoring player that was playing 18 mins a night? As someone out here on the West Coast, I have seen a lot of Colorado games, I truly believe that he’s right below Dahlin, ahead of power.
He’s a special player, you guys are gonna notice that right away
If someone would give us an elite forward for him I'll help him pack personally.Power should vault to the top of the list of valuable young assets available for an elite forward.
Its literally the exact opposite move. And if you want things to change you don't start by trading a player you need more off for a player you need less of.I guess.
By defaultSo does Krebs get an extended audition in more of a scoring role at C for the rest of the season before the new crop of Sabre prospects start to push?
I’ve long wondered if RyJo is a long-term fit with Dahlin.Because Dahlin isn’t going to thrive carrying a substantially worse version of himself around. You want Dahlin being the offensively aggressive D on his pairing, not the guy who has to hang back so a guy with a small fraction of his skill can go do dumb shit with the puck.
We literally have two 1st overall picks on defense. The idea that we should trade Mitts for another player like that is nuts.
No kidding that's why I said weird vibes. Byram isn't bad just stop. Its literally the exact opposite move. And if you want things to change you don't start by trading a player you need more off for a player you need less of.
Much more well put than what I've said. It's a fair value -- a defenseman with legit top 4 potential who's pretty close to being a sure thing to hit said ceiling. And a good puck-mover and good skater at that. So, IN A VACUUM -- a 22 year old D with upside for a 2C with one more year left until UFA seems like reasonable value.
Until then it's like....wait......the dude we got is flat-out redundant.......and the dude we traded has been our best 200 foot player for 1.5 years......
I hope there's another move coming on D.
