Based on Adams body of work, I do not hold out hope for the return you seek.
Eh, this is the first trade of Adams' where the value feels bad and like others have said, the blind value isn't so bad. It's the fit for Byram that feels bad (along with the emotion of a fan favorite leaving).

If he makes a similar rebalancing trade shipping out Power and returning an equivalent forward, I'm not sure everyone would hate Byram and X for Power and Y. At least Byram plays with fire unlike Power.

I guess I'm just trying to be optimistic. We all knew shit had to change here and yet every player had a reason to not be traded. It was going to be someone (turned out to be the easiest to move) and still might be another.

I know it was mentioned, but LH PMD is already a position the team is awash in. What they needed was not what they dealt for - the opposite of it in fact - and it opens up a hole at a key position.
my devils advocate is everybody is ok with Sammy-Dahls, so why not Bo-Dahls going forward?

as far as I'm concerned Sammy should be 3LD taking the EJ role until he proves healthy for extended time...and maybe Joker is still upgraded at RD with a more balanced type.

I'll miss Mitts and get not being thrilled, but I guess I'll wait to see if anything else comes down the pipe.

At some point we had to trade forwards for defense. Imagine being upset about acquiring a 22 yr old former top 5 pick for a player who would not fit into out long term plans as a 3C.
what a ridiculous argument.

We needed vet defensive help, preferably with size/physicality. Byrum is none of those things.

Mitts has been our #1 center all season long and can play wing. He has the versatility to play every spot in the top 9. But sure, he’s out 3rd line center.

I don’t have problem with trading him. But get something actually need.

I'm not positive, but it kinda feels like a big portion of your existence has evolved into mocking Kevyn Adams over the past couple of years. Once he is fired, I am afraid you are going to be left with a large hole in your life ;)
A cross I would willingly bear

Maybe this is exactly what the franchise needed. I hate seeing Mitts go, especially after fully developing him. I'm getting some weird Housley for Hawerchuk vibes.

As an outsider, I feel buffalo did a fantastic job, Byram has absolutely monster potential, and honestly dahlin power and byram on the left side is crazy.

Buffalo needs to just draft big, right, handed defenceman now, and fill the group through trades

I think my irritation is that this is the first time I didn't see this coming, despite the noise. I thought Casey was a huge part of the run last spring, covered when Tage went down, and really seemed to fit this team well. It's less about what they got. I am also worried that Tage may have been a one-hit wonder, and thought Casey was a good backup until some of the younger guys could get here.

You may be right. Byrum is a very talented player.

Maybe the move Power off PP2. Who knows

That's just it.... with Dahlin and Power around, they're going to be eating up minutes.

Nobody on this side of the trade really understands where Byram fits into the roster. We definitely didn't have a glaring need for him.

The thing we always do that we shouldn't do is kneejerk judge the trade immediately without considering that there's still two full days of trade window left, and maybe this isn't it as far as deals go, it could turn out to make a lot of sense in the grand scheme.

Alternatively, just think...it could get so, so much worse over the next couple.
