Franchise that had Dostal playing better than any other goalie in the league and somehow STILL decided to give the reigns to gibson who's been ass for like 6 years now overvalues gibson? Shocker

Haha. Why exactly do we need to sell low on Gibson?

Less about selling low and more about pricing yourselves out of selling him at all. Gambling that he's worth more to the right buyer, but if every buyer finds another seller, what's the point?

Hey I think you’re just saying that because you guys got Blackwood instead !

We don’t need to move him so any interested party has to make it worth our while. Particularly if they expect us to pay for him to play for them. That’s the point

Well, yeah. Avs were presumably a suitor that probably found the price for Blackwood more appealing. Doesn't that reinforce my point? If the same happens to Carolina and it keeps happening, Anaheim either lowers the price or keeps him. If they lower it, they could've just done that to begin with.

Then just continue having one of the league's better tandems, as they don't need to run Dostal into the ground and don't need the cap space from a Gibson trade at the moment. As term ticks off the contract, it becomes easier to move in the next year or two if needed.

There has to be some sort of decent return or I just don't see the reason to move him for the sake of a trade. If you eat a bunch of money, take back unwanted salary, have to pay another goalie to replace him - there has to be some incentive for Anaheim to partake. Otherwise helping the other team fill a need, probably making their own bad team worse...for what?

I agree with this but also the Canes are like so many teams with more prospects than spots, take a chance one in a while eh.

I remember fondly the days of Phil Esposito as a GM and it was a slow week if he didn't make a trade.

They need him to some degree.

If he is moved they are closer to the cap floor and then are restricted in any other dealing they could want. After paying up for Trouba to get a little breathing room I don’t think they’d just give that away free.

It also dominos a bit into the next season if they want to bring some youth up, as they have little cap hits.

If somebody wants Gibson they have to want him more than Anaheim needs him.

Anaheim needs to take the L on the trade. It's doing right by the player, and that kind of thing is underrated, even for success of the team. Its a distraction.
They have Dostal. Gibson's luster has worn off, but he's a tantalizing gamble for contender with good defense to try

How would trading Gibson make the Ducks worse keeping in mind his achievements the past half-decade?

I know you're here because your Gibson google alert went off telling you to come make the same post ten times in this thread like usual (seriously your obsession is downright bizarre, it's 20% of your posting on this site on one player who's team you don't follow, dude should consider a restraining order). An ounce of logic suggests that the Ducks aren't receiving a better goalie in return unless the other team is brain-dead.

Anything that doesn't involve ad hominems?

You bump these threads to make the same posts even when no one has responded, it's truly a bizarre fixation to have with a random player around the league.

If a quality org like Carolina is even showing interest, that should tell you that your rock bottom opinion might be skewed.

I have never made a thread on the trade board, nor did I bump this specific thread. No idea what you're talking about.

That's not the question I asked.
