The fact the blues are in need of a number one center and a guy who goes to the net, plays hard etc

Carolina:

Jordan Staal
Late pick

For

St. Louis:

As a Hurricanes fan, it would depend on what Shattenkirk asks. It would have to be similar money as Faulk. This trade could open up other potential trades down the road for Carolina. And while I've always believed in Staal, I don't want that contract for another 6 years.

I doubt Canes fans would even entertain the idea, but how highly do you guys value Victor Rask?

His value that of any low-end #1C who is making only $4 million a year for the next 6 years. Canes would need a similar age, similar contract 1C back in the deal plus incentive (basically Rask for Rask plus).

That's seriously bad. I'm not talking about value (which is bad given the contract situation of Shattenkirk), but you've shown no consideration for the other team's roster and its strengths and weaknesses.

Seriously, I don't think there is a team in the league that can LEAST afford to deal a C for a D. And yes I realize you are kindly sending them back Berglund or Lehtera.

It's possible that Carolina could be open to dealing Staal at some point, but it wouldn't be for this kind of offer.

In what world is Rask a 1C? Even a low-end one?
I think Carolina would be one of the last teams in the league to turn to if you're looking for a center.

Victor Rask, 23 years old and currently has 12 pts in 14 games and is a plus 3 on a last place team. I'd say he's a low end #1 or at the very least an excellent #2

He had the 46th most amount of points (for centers) as a 22 yo, just last year, and is still clearly progressing.

He is actually playing as a 1st line C.

So yeah he is a low end 1st line C/excellent 2nd line C.

I'm not saying Rask won't get there. As of now he's your 1st line center because you're painfully thin at the position. He's not a 1st line center yet.

It depends, if it's Staal for Lehtera+Shattenkirk, I think it isn't a terrible deal. Carolina could quite easily resign Shattenkirk with all that cap space and afford Lehtera.

That being said I don't think Carolina does this. Their defense is already quite good and they are fairly thin down the middle.

As a Blues fan, I'd consider it for sure.
