Ryan Leonard numbers wise looks good which should help him avoid the popcorn duty when Protas returns.

These are all 5-on-5 numbers:

Fenwick For/Against: 60.78% (1st in team)
Shots For/Against: 63.64% (1st in team)
Goals For/Against: 100% (2-0, tied 1st in team)
Scoring Chances For/Against: 71.88% (1st in team)
High-Danger Chances For/Against: 76.92% (4th in team, woof)
xGF: 73.28% (1st in team)

Limited minutes sure but all in all Caps are pretty analytics-driven team these days and none of the numbers regarding Ryan Leonard scream a healthy-scratch to me. At home atleast to me it should clearly be Taylor Raddysh which isn't really to fault him as he's been fine too but Leonard, Mangiapane, Beauvillier and those guys have outplayed him so far. When it gets tricky is if they don't close it out at home. I can see Carbery in away games moving forward wanting to put Protas in with Strome and Ovechkin because that's the line Habs were targeting and Carbery has played them on really offensive minutes so far, which is smart and has been effective. But the balance clearly shifts when they finally can put the big guy into the line-up for away games. He should help them get out of the PK slide that's been going on, too.

Yes. Let’s get this kid into the mix.

What a night! When Top Line Tommy plays in control, it can be absolutely horrifyingly glorious.

I don't know what people are seeing when they watch Leno because I see a kid who is WAAAY beyond his years in development even in the midst of a hotly contested playoff series.

I see him making increasingly smart decisions and his learning curve is off the charts when it comes to positioning and the flow of the NHL game.

Right now he's the rookie deferring to the coach, the gameplan, and the veterans. Eventually he will start to become more "selfish" and call his own number instead of trying to do 50 things exactly right to impress the coaches and his teammates and keep his spot instead of presenting himself as an obvious liability.

It took CMM years to reach a level even close to this, and he still makes big mistakes. The giveaway that led to a goal in G3 was atrocious and if Leno did it everyone would say "rookie mistake" and call for him to be benched.

Patience. We're up 3-1 and Protas back in the lineup will only improve things.

As for who sits, I think the ENG doesn't erase the rest of the bad performances from Duhaime. He and Mango (despite the GWG) should probably be in a rotation unless/until Leno or someone else totally shits the bed.

What’s our record in series when up 3-1?

I sense it’s something horrific like 8-5

Im not sure what we do with Protas game 4. I would like to play him and get the series over with but I could see resting him more.

I think one of the best things thru 4 gms is
we've been rusty and trying to shake off rust and managed to get to 3-1 while being a bit sloppy
physical game and effort has been there tho from G1 puck drop...
now it's time to take the next step and get the details dialed in and actually play a solid 60

plenty to work on esp PP/PK, passing was shite most of last night
rest up, get some good practice in before G5 and close this sucka out

Just wanted to rant about how pathetic the bias has been with the mods in on the main board.

In the Wilson hit thread, this guy insults a group of fans and says they have "reptilian brains" due to appreciating Wilsons hard hit that set the tone - he is 100% insinuating that supporting violence is bad. He then goes on 2 hours later to be a complete hypocrite and straight out hope that Ovi and Wilson get cross checked in the face.

I quote both and say that it was ironic that it only took 2 hours for his "reptilian brain" to come into affect. Within 10 minutes my post is removed by a mod with no message/reasoning why, but this morons 2 posts that are way worse are still there.

I never thought I'd hate a fanbase of a team this mediocre as I do right now.

do mods mod the mods? come on mods!

Great to see Strome and Mikey playing so well. Definitely had some concerns about how they’d elevate their game in the playoffs.

I know it’s only 4 games against a Habs team that isn’t great defensively. But Strome has 7 pts. He’s playing with a lot of confidence, and controlling play by slowing down time a la Backy.

Come out strong on Wednesday and put this team away. Hopefully the Mangi winner will encourage guys to just shoot more on this Dobes kid.

The mods are driven more by popular opinion than one might think.

If enough posters whine about something, they’ll often just do what people want regardless of any rules.

It's been a theme - a ton of shit is getting deleted on the main board if it is not in the Habs favor lol.

Main boards are moderated by global mods who are from all different teams. Maybe there's some bias (though this was very rare when I was a mod and it does get addressed/discussed), maybe it's just a matter of who ends up getting to handle the report and they don't see all the related posts.

Did you report the posts you thought should be taken down? Many times mods rely on reports and can't read every single word in every single post in every single thread.

Nor would any sane person want to.

Believe me.

I was not familiar with how whiny the Montreal fan base is. Every team complains the refs are biased against them but man, they are next level. Insufferable.

And it’s also funny that they think the refs are biased towards Washington. I’ll always remember Laviolette in that show leading up to the Winter Classic when he’s getting a raw deal by the officials in Montreal and just keeps saying, “that’s Montreal typical!” I’m sure the league is biased against an original six team in a huge market making their first real playoff appearance since 2016-17.

Third period leads just aren’t safe these days. Makes me feel better about the first two wins seeing all these other teams cough up leads.
You're just not allowed to clamp down on guys like you used to be able to, makes it so much harder to turtle.

It’s bad on Reddit r/hockey too. Literally after every game, a habs post is upvoted to the top over some missed penalty.

The latest being a Connor McMichael “elbow” that was a nothing play where he elbowed the air after Caufield bailed on a hit. Nothing happened and they’re still bitching

Followed by both Dobes and MSL complaining about refs again postgame, Such whiny nonsense. That team hasn’t played playoff hockey in years and it shows
