Summon Le Puck eaters on D. Clear the crease support our G and we will cruise history easily to a game 7 OT winner.

Playoff anxiety fully purged in 2018.

Whatever happens, happens…but I’m done worrying about winning or losing beyond being in the moment of a game.

Unless we considerably underperform, we should beat these guys in 6 (thank you parity) or less.

Watched Lane Hutson very closely last night and yes, incredibly offensively gifted, but damn he gets physically mauled in his own end. Caps should be banging and crashing their D repeatedly.

Monday it is...

I think Thompson is in regardless. Protas is the big question mark. Caps are a different team with him in there. He's a beast to deal with and him being there vs. Some of the Habs smaller D while you have the last change would be huge.

My guess is Lindgren for game 1 and likely game 2. They would play him tonight if they are going to sit him monday. Why would they sideline the backup instead of keeping him warm.

Also LT needs solid practises to be ready.

With Protas, i think he plays. Theyll stitch him in.

Not fan of the chosen dates as an european. Throw us a bone with weekend games and ”prime time” sundays :)

yep

also stevenson in net tonight vs pens, I assume that means LT won't be ready for game 1.

I think Charlie can handle Montreal if needed, so I'm fine with giving LT more time to get back to 100%. I'm a little more concerned that Protas isn't skating yet. We need him to be ready to go for game one.

Give Huston the Mike Green treatment.
Slow dumps to his corner FTW. Sadly it appears that targeting the oppositions smallest Dman for termination is politically incorrect or frowned upon. I miss the days of yesteryear of game 1 first period playoff hitting.

We won the cup with Djoos 145lbs soaking wet on D but our opponents never targeted him. And of course because Orpik was a total stud and covered for him in front.

My thoughts heading into these playoffs. I think this series will go a lot like many Caps games went this season. At random, I'll choose a typical Caps game from this season...Halloween night vs. Montreal.

This was the last Caps game I went to in person, and it went like most Caps games this season. No score in the first. Tom Wilson scored to put the Caps up one in the second. Habs came back to score two goals. Caps tied, then went ahead to make it 3-2. Montreal potted another and it was 3-3 at the end of the second. Third period was #ALLCAPS, with McMichael, Protas, and Ovechkin (858--40 goals ago!) all scoring to hand the Habs a 6-3 loss.

I think the Caps win the first game and lose the second (or vice versa, either way, they split at home). They win the two in Montreal (Ovi does love to play there!). Montreal takes game 5 in DC. Caps win the series in 6 in MTL.

Or some other combo. Anyway, Caps in 6.

I'd be targeting Demidov because he won't be used to it and Laine because he wilts mentally when targeted. Hutson is tougher mentally, so there's less but not zero advantage to targeting him physically.

Congrats to the Habs for making the playoffs with no sarcasm in there. Everyone knows how much Ovie enjoys playing at the Bell Center and they have great fans that love their team and hockey.

I don't really have the Dredd that I started to have that was excised by the 2018 stanley cup winning season going into any playoff sense. These late season dings are concerning, however. Reminds me of another caps squad that got dinged up right at the end of the season and ended up losing to Tampa in the 1st round.

Picked Caps in 5. Not worried... Habs are a smaller, younger team who just emptied the tank emotionally in game 82. Let's be honest, they're just happy to be here. We're bigger, more experienced, more talented, and most importantly Sam Montembeault is not Jaro Halak. Take care of business and break the seal on winning playoff rounds since the Cup.

It's a bo7 series. No matter how mentally tough Cole's brother is, targeting a 5'9 170 lbs defenseman will always be effective.

Josh Anderson is a heavyweight too, though he doesn't fight as much as he used to. Handily beat Wilson back in October.

Hopefully the need for fights is minimized, Montreal can handily match us in that regard. Especially considering that if our best fighter plays at all, it means something bad happened.

I think Caps in 5 is a little too confident. We don’t close out any series in 5, except Vegas in 2018 and NYR in 2011. We go 6 or 7 games

at least we are playing the habs. Any other team in the east, I’m not feeling great about our odds

I need to rewatch that. I can’t recall Wilson ever being “handily beat(en)”…

To be fair, it looked like Wilson didn't really want to fight for whatever reason. But the result was the same.

Guess my point is, we need to be careful about getting into a physical 'slugfest' and targeting guys like Hutson and Demidov. Montreal can do the same, just as, if not more, effectively than the Caps can. (But our top guys might be less vulnerable to it.)
