He really needs to keep scoring goals to be enticing at the deadline. If he does continue scoring at his current rate and sits at 20G/10A at the trade deadline, he has good value at 2.85M$. There aren't many 20+ goal scorers moved at the trade deadline, and they tend to command a premium.

Only losers sell their empty cap space! Winners leave it empty!

Rabble Rabble Rabble!

Don’t make up things I’m advocating for.

You literally claim that "retention" or selling cap space is loser talk:
Exactly…..pretty sad to see fans wanting this team to fail when they’re finding a way right now to do otherwise. All this retention talk is loser talk. Not quite there yet.
I guess even simple conversations are beyond you. Good to know.

Choosing to lose and managing your assets efficiently are completely different things. I don't think anywhere I said lose on purpose. Overreaction bandwagon circle jerk train full steam ahead!

We hang onto everybody and get smoked in the first round or miss out on the playoffs everybody here will be rampaging how BMac mismanaged his assets.

i never suggested “leaving it empty”….I prefer to make hockey trades and use it that way. Making shit up indeed…you are so unimpressive in a debate….
As many people have told you, the caps don't have assets to make the "hockey trades" you keep advocating. I'm guessing you'll struggle during this retooling process. You don't have the patience or mental fortitude required to prepare for the future.

Think about it this way. Company has a chance to hit its revenue goals and employees are feeling good. Management says, you know what, we’re going to fire some people to increase EBITDA even though we are doing well, just so we have the chance to hire some new employees that MIGHT be better. Good employees say F this, I’m out. management says, why are you leaving we’ll be better in the future. Employees say no thank you. Recruiting tries to get new employees. They say, I see how you treat people. I am out. That is what people are suggesting here.

That is going to happen anyway, lol. It's a vicious cycle of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

A long way to go between now and March 8. Almost three full months of hockey. There are really only two teams in the East right now that look truly out of the race (Ottawa and Columbus, and even Ottawa doesn’t look totally dead because they have the fewest GP in the league). Four teams are tied in points for the second wild card at the moment and there’s only a four point difference between the 2nd wild card spot and 14th in the East. And some of the teams out of it at the moment are the Devils, Lightning, Hurricanes, and Pens and they’re all capable of individually or collectively replacing teams currently in the race. Any talks of either buying or selling are premature.

And anyone looking to sell guys like Mantha right now for futures is fooling themselves and setting themselves up for disappointment. Ownership and management are set on trying to compete while Ovi is still around and that task has been made more manageable with Nick stepping aside. Plus, Carberry has them in a competitive position. If they were close to the basement then sure they might try and aggressively sell so they could quickly retool but they’re in the playoffs as of this moment with anywhere from two to five games in hand on the rest of the conference.

A lot will be decided over the next three months and their position should be much clearer by the time March rolls around.

9. A few weeks ago, I saw Vancouver as the favourite for Ethan Bear. What other interested parties could see, however, was the Canucks’ salary-cap limitations. Washington, which has some LTIR flexibility, could offer a second year at approximately $2M and land the player. Vancouver — and others — wanted to get through this year, then consider an extension in the offseason. Now, we wait to see the domino effect on the Capitals’ blue line. There’s time, as Bear is not yet ready to play.

Can't stay on the ice. Maybe not the best trade target

Who isn’t (in it for the long haul) my friend?

All those years in the 80’s and 90’s did you just want them to mail it in and quit because we had little chance to go deep in the playoffs?

Hell no.

Get in, and you never know what team can get hot.

What you appear to really want is a rash of injuries which would force them to tank…if they’re plugging along in a playoff spot, I expect them to make hockey trades. If that means shipping Mantha fine; but they’re not going to give up on the season and just gut the team heading into a playoff spot.
Exactly. See Florida, last year.
