I can't wait to find out what this is all about, because it doesn't make much sense. There must be some kind of hockey trade brewing.

Bear is a free agent. Don’t need to trade for him. I still don’t get where he fits. And we still have a pretty crowded 23 man roster with Pacioretty returning too.

Johansen is a goner, is AA getting waived too? NAK back to Hershey? Trade Milano before his chia pet night?? Jensen for a pick?

What spots do they even have for both Bear and Pacioretty?
I don't mind it. It's free depth in a position where we really aren't that deep. Even better if it's 2 years instead of 1 and the AAV stays close to ~1.

Carlson is great...but he's 33. Jensen is 33 too and he's been really bad to start the season. Perhaps it's a system issue (again) but he will regress down the line. I'm not that worried about losing Johansen or Alexeyev. Haman Aktell looked good in the pre-season but fell behind both Johansen and AA, he needs seasoning down there and is a question mark.

Lots of options there but to say we are deep when in reality we have 2 33-year olds and TvR who can play on his off-side then it's not really deep enough to turn down free talent. Johansen and AA need to improve to be considered NHL-level depth.

Low risk, high reward. Yes, please.

Yeah, we may like McMichael and Lapierre but let's not act like their value is sky-high around the league. They may become potential top-6 players one day but if we're talking Kaprizov? You are likely looking at trading one of those, plus high upcoming picks on top of Leonard.

Kaprizov is apparently playing injured so why would the Wild sell him low now? He's signed through eternity and he doesn't even have trade protection so he couldn't bring his trade value down by requesting a trade and ruling out teams. You'd be looking at a huge bidding war and a sky-high price for one of the best wingers in the game.

I wish, though. Put Jensen, 2024 1st, Lapierre, McMichael all in the deal and if the Wild take the bait i'd drive all of them to the airport myself.
definitely would do the trade but seriously doubt the wild would. Kaprizov is already better then what most of the caps prospects "might " become. Not saying spending future assets is the right idea but if the caps want Kaprizov it will be really expensive. Do you think any of the bolded really moves the needle in any way. I would be pissed if I were a wild fan.

This is insanity. We aren’t trading all of that (minus Jensen), for anyone, unless his last name starts with Bedard, and he isn’t available.

I like the path we are on.

No chance.

They would get a much better top piece elsewhere, for sure.

We should absolutely buy low on Kuzmenko. Maybe sell high on Mantha and move Jensen in the deal as well? Likely including a prospect/pick as well. If we add another top-nine forward without removing one, we will have an excess of two (when MaxPax comes back).

I don’t know much about Ethan Bear, but I don’t like his agent going public in a bidding war in December for a free agent. Dude just sign and start playing stop tweeting contract demands.

Wilson and Vrana have just about the same salary. Wilson is on a 30g pace and Vrana is on an 8g pace. For whatever reason.

Are we complaining about TW's contract (despite him being 2nd on the team in points and goals) but we want a guy who's shooting under 5% this year?

I liked Vrana but there is something still off with him. If they take a chance they'd better have a plan B.

we do have the Space and could potentially trade him again at the trade deadline, and he’s a free agent at the end of the season so very little risks

Vrana is a big upgrade over Phillips

Hard pass on Vrana. Appreciative of what he did here, but we don’t need the headache or distraction. I hope he gets better and receives all of the help he needs, but it’s not worth the risk for us, not to mention he’s really overpaid and his effectiveness is vastly overrated around here. He also has a shit work ethic and doesn’t like to play defense. No thank you, sir!

For 2.6m for one more year, I think claiming Vrana is an acceptable risk for the team with the second worst offence in the league.

I also think he was the happiest here so he's set up to succeed.

over a 3 year span vrana is 15th in the entire nhl in 5v5 g/60.

would be ridiculous to not claim him when we desperately need offense

I don't understand the Bear thing? A multi-year deal for the 7D?

Seems like the defense has been gelling lately too, who would go? As much as twabby wants Edmundson's spreadsheet out the door you don't trade a guy who is getting back up to speed from an injury and playing his first games after you made a trade for him...

I know V has some major baggage with what seems to be a whole slew of off-ice issues but at that cap hit and his production over the last few years, I would be thrilled if we took a chance on him. We can easily afford him right now and lord know this teams needs more finishing ability...something that he has shown he has in spades (barring this season). I think he would do very well under Carbs.
