How you gonna do hockey like that?
Just FYI Laine played some center for CBJ and apparently looked decent. Still dont think he's coming here but still.
I have to disagree. Laine in CBJ seems to be a stale situation and Kuzy with us. 1 for 1 would make some sense. Both players would be given a new chance at a fresh start. Laine is more of a shooter, while Kuzy is more of a playmaker. Caps need another talented shooter. CBJ might not necessarily need Kuzy, but they get out of a slightly smaller cap hit a year sooner.
He would probably help us but it just seems like we’d be trading one disinterested euro for another. I guess it’s worth it just to shake it up. Where would you put him on the pp? He plays ovys spot.Kind of shocked that everyone is turning their nose up Laine. He's not perfect, but we'd be better with him.

Play 5 forwards, replace Carlson. He's worthless out there now anyways. Can't make a clean pass to Ovi and hits the net one in every 10 shots. He would probably help us but it just seems like we’d be trading one disinterested euro for another. Initially i was excited about Laine but after some thought i decided against it. This team needs youth and speed. They need young guys who can keep their feet moving all night and not be gassed when they get to the bench. Laine is still young but he was never fast.Kind of shocked that everyone is turning their nose up Laine. He's not perfect, but we'd be better with him.
Honestly, yeah. If we were to get Laine I'd put him in Ovi's spot and put Ovi in front of the net like late-career Dave Andreychuck so he can collect easy rebound PP goals without having to skate anywhere.Ovie's spot
Big difference between a guy who's got talent and is just underperforming vs someone who's an alleged headcase. How does one upgrade over Kuznetsov without giving up decent futures for a player that isn't somewhat dodgy? Best case asset-wise is weaponizing their cap space and being willing to tolerate some risk in the process. A cooked core doesn't deserve dumping futures to prop up further. Just let it run its course.
I don't know if Laine is that guy. He's not that fast nor the brightest. He can snipe. Whoever they can happen to target is probably not going to be risk-free. They're going to have to have a plan with them as well. Let's hope the plan is better and the player is more receptive/mature. They may very well be stuck with 92, though, given the long list of associated negatives.
This is a mid team probably at best without a Vezina Lindgren so, again, they should just let it fall apart if that's all this core can manage. MacLellan has to own it but a lot of these issues were foreseen and their hands were (and are) tied.
Laine had a slow start last year and ended the season at a point per game pace over the final 48 games, so he's clearly got talent. But that doesn't exactly rule out being a headcase.Big difference between a guy who's got talent and is just underperforming vs someone who's an alleged headcase.
Which one describes Laine is not my call
That's the thing about him being one of the worst players in the league. Almost anyone you replace him with is an upgrade. You're talking about a player who is statistically worse than 99% of the league. That's not hyperbole, and watching the games confirms it night after night. You upgrade by simply getting rid of him.How does one upgrade over Kuznetsov without giving up decent futures for a player that isn't somewhat dodgy?

Can we waive him without sending him to Hershey? Maybe send him to South Carolina? That’s my thought in waiving his ass….I’d like to see if a little humility can be found….

Watch this from 20:30 - 30:00. Chuck Ruff on drums. 1973 Grammy for best/most use of Peruvian Marching Powder!!Would hardly be the first performer to develop a reliance on cocaine to "bring it", stage performers get that all the time. Kinetic musicians and comedians seem pretty big on it
"It's shit," he said bluntly.
"You gotta accept sometimes and trust the process, and I feel like there is a lot more into it. That was a bad, bad day and bad finish over there, right... for me, probably yes," Kuznetsov said regarding whether he agreed with the scratch. "Lke I said, I love Carbs so much. I trust what he’s doing and he's trying to help me find my game and get better and help the team, because I know that I gotta be better in every areas... I have to play better hockey. That’s the answer."
“I feel like we’ve been missing those 15-20 points by me, and that’s 20 goals. If we could score those 20 goals, we’d probably be top-10 in the league in regard to scoring, so that’s what we’re missing," Kuznetsov said. "And I understand that. I’m not the guy who’s gonna be making a lot of money and walking around happy when hockey’s not good. I wanna play better, I wanna succeed here and I want my team to celebrate every game.”
“That was shit. It's not easy to watch the game or be not with the team or kind of step away one day and unfortunately not able to help the team and especially in that game... I felt bad because I felt like I had to be there and had to help the team better in every areas," he explained.
"I feel like I want to kill someone since yesterday, in a good way, you know... probably, I learn something about this later in my career when I'm going to have time to sit back and think about it. But so far, I understand what it was saying. At that point, it's hard to accept, but like I said, I trust him so much," Kuznetsov said. "I want to believe in him, and he want to believe in me. I feel like we have a great relationship, so I kind of understand that I need to be better."
"Those people putting a lot of pressure and a lot of bad words on my name, I’ll pay back one day and use that as a motivation," he smiled.
Definitely agree with you. My only thing is that Kuzy doesn’t seem like he’d be one to lip service. He says it how it is right or wrong.Knowing is half the battle….but then again, lip service is cheap. Let’s see him put up or shut up.
Nice to see him back up what I’ve thought for a while now…..he’d want to shove it down the Cap’s throats if they move him.
