Maybe thats it. My parents were a tiny bit hippies in the 70s/80s so there were a couple of occasion it was around though they tried to hide it. Was always not a bad smell. Which I find jarring just how terrible it smells when I'm out in the around in the car.

As someone who works near there, my first thought was about all of the lanes of traffic they've already removed to add parking, bus and bike lanes, and now they'd potentially be closing other roadways. (9th St used to be a great way to head down to 395 from the area, but these days it's pretty painful.)

That said, some of the ideas and depictions look pretty nice and frankly make some sense given the roads that are underutilized now, like 8th.
