So practically no goals in the NHL are ever any goalie's fault, got it. The puck doesn't 'just find a way in' on a wrister from above the god damned circles with no screen or deflection.
Which goal was that? Ovi's wrister?

Honestly it just seems like Georgiev looses concentration a bit sometimes and his decision making becomes a split second slow. I dunno, I'm more still mad at that St Louis goal because that absolutely cost them at least a point and was one that he just could not give up but he completely misplayed the whole situation. But...there are far worse goalies playing as #1's in the league

Speaking of goalies, geeez does Samsonov need to work on his lateral movement. On several goals (Zibanejad's second and DeAngelo's at least) he's moving from side to side in a pretty much uncontrolled slide. He's not staying square and in control, he's just sliding over on his knees and out of position

Quinn galaxy brains the line combos way more than he should.

credit to him for getting the guys to play hard, but holy shit his blind spots are horrible.

Howden, PDG, Staal. They should be playing lower or not playing at all.

Kempny, but I guess that was a deflection and the goal was changed? Can't fault him in that case.

Wasn't thrilled with Ovie's 1st goal but it's Ovie so that's a write off. His second though- the rebound should have been controlled, AG seems to get anxious at the end of games. So Hagelin's is terrible, and the last Ovie was bad too.

Ovi's wrister beats any NHL goalie 80% of the time. It was a laser from 25 feet just inside the bar.
I didn't know Kempny's was deflected. That was the only one other than Hag's that I thought he might have had.
The final Ovi goal wasn't Georgiev's fault. Puck was moving (yep, pucks dip). He fought it off and the rest of the team was standing around. Fast should have been marking Ovi.

Really easy to point the finger at him and say "Oh he whiffed!" from the couch but those are always tough shots to handle.
That's a Hank special lol. It could be trickling at 1.5 mph but if it's a whiff it might as well be 20000 MPH if Hank is in net. But yea, they are tough to stop, I'll give AG a pass on that one and the deflected 3rd goal. Ovie's wrister from the circle....they happen it's Ovie. But the Ovie rebound goal should never have been, and the Hags goal NEEDs to be stopped all day every day.

another thing I'll say is that I was real skeptical about how this team was coming together earlier in the year...and they're not there yet, but they certainly have improved their play and are showing they have the potential to be a really good team soon. I think a lot of it is consistency and discipline...when they get in trouble defensively is when they get a little too excited and start taking some bad risks and get scrambly and wild, but when they keep things under control they're pretty dang good.

Will it be enough to make the playoffs this year? Dunno. But this is also partly why they wanted to keep the team together and build on what they've done this year and how far they've come rather than tear it down again and go through this learning process with their play again next year

The original shot was deflected on the way in?
Pucks move. They don't always come in straight. Sometimes they rise/dip. It appeared that shot dipped which is why it may have handcuffed him a bit. With that said, its Ovi, the most prolific goal scorer of our time, standing there all by himself. Would it be a good idea to mark the guy?

It definitely would! But I'm not giving Geo a pass for a puck dipping. Goalie's can read that off the shot and trajectory. At least control the rebound a teensy bit is all I ask.

People just have to understand that, yes, he had a good game last night, but Gauthier deserves top-9 minutes. His size, speed and skating are excellent. Also, Kakko will still get 10+ mins, id think. Playing with two incredibly hard workers can’t hurt him. Think about how the forechecking from those two guys will help create space for him and opportunities to shoot the puck more. He has to shoot more. It was the reason Zibanejad buried his fourth.

You mean like a curveball, or are you talking about a backdoor slider?

Igor with his own net in practice and Hank and AG sharing....does that imply what I'm hoping it implies....?

That Hank and AG don't want Igor to have a part of their net?

Howden sucks. Kakko needs work defensively but he’s looked good in the offensive zone lately. Why are we dropping him to the 4th line?

It seems always on the verge of breaking through then gets frustrated and starts holding the puck and going behind the net instead of towards the net. Kreider had the same problem after his initial playoff call up after his college year.

I think it's a message to simplify his game just like when he just put the puck on net leading to Zibas 4th goal.

The coaches think Howden is good
Quinn has started to win me over in many ways, but his infatuation with Howden and the way he handled Lias is something I can't get past.

It's bad enough to be infatuated with a terrible player like AV with Glass, but I sincerely feel that he is derailing Howden's development with the way he coaches him.
