This has been domination, we have had a lot of quality chances, this isn't just a high shot count game, it is a high quality chance game.

This type of game happens on a fairly regular basis with the Leafs. Rittich, Allen, Vedjmelka, Anderson, Lindgren, Georgiev suddenly made to look like prime Hasek in a massive shot differential game. Feels like someone else’s game plan where Toronto ends up pumping up the shot count but nothing doing.

Who was complaining last night when we were winning?

pretty much the entire thread was complaining because we were winning but playing bad.

Yep, never happens with other teams. Goalies never have good games.

Caps play too heavy for 3rd line might need to limit them. Leafs as a team have xGF over 70% and all members of 3rd line is under 30%. Engvall only creeped up because of the last shift with Marner but he sat at 26% before that

I'd like to see this team completely revamped next year. Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Reilly, Brodie, Liljegren should be the core. I'd keep Bunting Malgin and Kampf as well. Everyone else should be moved or let walk including Shanny, Dubas, and Keefe.

We don’t screen the goalie or get to the front enough. Perimeter hockey for the most part.

I’m not as doom and gloom though it’s way to early to be upset.

Our Johnny is so full of it. He handles himself Bitter than ever and is More fast. And like the wise high iq guys said In the studio, he digs those pucks so good.... what a strong, well eating player

Not much money left to complete the team if you're keeping those ones listed. That's the big issue.

Leafs really don't have an answer for heavy teams. I agree with you completely.

Perimeter hockey? Like half of our shots are below the hashmarks.

Or it’s someone’s game plan to concede high volume shots to Toronto but just cover the slot with bodies… be curious to see instances of second and third shot rebounds and cross slot passing.

It is early but the team looks much weaker this year then last. Even if they turn it around this roster looks poised for another 1st round exit.

Half the shots have been below the hash marks, how is that someone's plan? Give up chances in the most prime location? Genius game planning.

I think the first paragraph is right. Doom and gloom isn’t really the right way to describe it because we know how other teams play well against them.

You ever hear that voice In your head like In the 1986 film by alan Parker, angelheart? Evertytime our Johnny has the puck I hear the whisper... "Johnny, johnny".... its spooky.

I mean it's only game 2 but yes the team does seem smaller. The capitals have played heavy hockey for years. Why Malgin gets into the lineup and we don't have someone like Simmonds dressed for heavier teams is beyond me. Hathaway's shit on Matthews needed to have an answer and not just Buntings slash.

Not a bad period by us. Defensive issues and goaltending are killing us. Rielly allowing too much time to the shooter, Brodie not clearing at blue line…it’s the little things.
