Yes it is a bottom third D in the league. Fixed for youThat defense is bad?
Quinn hughes = Top 2 Dman in the world
Hronek = 1b 2a Defender
m.petey = #3/4 Shutdown defender
Myers = #4/5 Defender
DPETEY = has arguably been our best defender behind Hronek since getting the call up and is what like 20 years old?
Atm #5/6
Mancini = Has looked great again, #5/6
Willander = Top Defender prospect with size and skating
If you think that’s bad, give your head a shake.
We were running brannstrom ( who was okay) Juulson and soucy for half the year man.
I agree that we need to be careful in trading Pinto but we have a real team construction problem at center and no depth in the organization basically it's EP40 and everyone else has to play higher up in the depth chart than they should.I would look around a bit more before I would pull the trigger around something like that.
The thing is, and I think you know this, I am a huge fan of Pinto, and I feel he has immense potential.
That being said, I would definitely still look around before I make that decision, right now I’m leaning towards No.
Willander is an extremely significant piece for Vancouver, 6,3 RHD that can skate like he does, but you need to be very careful trading him.
I don't know what is worse, your avatar or this take?Yes it is a bottom third D in the league. Fixed for you
Quinn hughes = Top 2 offensive Dman in the world who plays little to no actual defense in his own zone
Man you are so far out there you don't even know what meal you are out of.Hronek = Solid defensive dman, but still a middle pairing guy on most if not all playoff teams. He doesnt have a 1 anywhere except on crap teams.
m.petey = bottom pairing dman on most teams
Who are you?Myers = bottom pairing dman on most teams
DPETEY = who?
Mancini = who?
Willander = who?
What an ignorant take. Yeah, winning those cups was easy. That's why literally 2/3 of the cups that that once in a generation Penguins team won were under Rutherford's helm.As long as Rutherford is pulling the strings, mediocrity will be the future. It's easy to construct a Cup roster when you already have 4 HoF'ers still in their primes and then ride a hot goalie. But having to push a team that was a playoff contender and get them over the hurdle into Cup contender is a much different animal.

I'd reckon the hope is that any fall-off from a guy like Myers is offset by the upside that Willander has. We've seen plenty of college players like him step right in and quickly assume a Top-4 role, or at least quasi-Top-4 minutes.
The rest of the defence corps is...if healthy, a rock solid ice tilting top pair with Hughes-Hronek, and Marcus Pettersson to anchor a second pairing where he's entirely slotted properly within the depth chart for his ability level. So yeah, Myers is the weak link there...but there is a succession plan on the way with Willander to absorb some of that as another RHD behind him with some big minutes potential.
Not a world-beater defence corps so long as Myers is potentially playing ~Top-4ish minutes...but should still be plenty "good enough", especially with Hughes being an absolutely huge difference-maker. It's also a team coached with solid team defence in mind overall.
It's really up front where the Canucks are a bit of an absolute trainwreck right now. No 2C, a 1C who isn't playing up to his capability. Really only 3 bonafide Top-6 Forwards and one of them is a UFA that they might not be able to retain. It's ugly.

I don't think Canucks entertain a rebuild if Hughes stays.The issue isnt they think they are contenders, the real is issue is an owner who wants to sacrifice the future for a round or two of playoff revenue. But yes same result
HughesI don't think Canucks entertain a rebuild if Hughes stays.
What leads to a cup sooner? Keeping Hughes or a scorched earth rebuild?
They do have all their picks for the upcoming draft, mb they'll offer sheet someone? What C's are avail via offer sheet?
Counting on a Williander to go from college to a top 4 role is insanity.
A college rookie, a guy with 20 nhl games, a guy 9 nhl games, 35/36 year old Myers, Hronek that had 1 year of top pairing quality. Theres basically two players to count on as safe bets to not regress in Hughes and MPettersson and even then they both had close to career years this year.
Given the cap rising, I feel this year a lot of teams are probably protected from offer sheets as they all get gifted extra space . Would prob take monumental overpays to get certain playersThey could try to go after Rossi, but Minny’s finally getting some cap relief on the Suter and Parise buyouts so they’re not really hurting to match anything reasonable.
Ya I know, it's a running embarrassment in Vancouver that we can't have all star Dmen on the bottom pairing like every other team in the league right?That third pairing will get eaten alive
Putting actual defense around Hughes so he can continue to play 80% of time in the offensive zone. Boeser is leaving so youre left with EP40 only. Give him some help because that O depth is pretty bad.I don't think Canucks entertain a rebuild if Hughes stays.

Lost me here. That defense is pretty bad and captain obvious, but Quinn is bolting for NJ first chance he gets.
lol wut?! Are we 12 now? Outside of massively overpaying him, which the Canucks will be tempted to do if Makar signs first that offseason, please list the reasons why he would stay in Vancouver. Its not quite the Tkachuks, but it is marketing gold having the Hughes brothers together and that is ignoring him actually wanting the rare chance to play with his brothers, which we can assume he does want.That's about as likely as you getting a girlfriend...........I mean anything could happen but the odds are definitely stacked against it......
Van fans are stoked because they have had crap for defense for 50 years now. Anything above bottom pairing no namers is an upgrade. Please make a list of all 32 teams and tell me how many the Canucks are ahead of and taking off your biased glasses first.People saying Vancouvers D looks like shit are out to lunch. There's a reason why Van fans are stoked D Petey at 20 years old has been a revelation and has top 4 potential written all over him. Hard to see Willander not being a good player in this league for a long time. Add in Hughes and Hronek in a couple years our Top 4 will most likely be as good as any in the league. Having MPetey as our #5? Most teams would dream of that.
We have plenty of assets to get a 2C. While Bennett is a great target he will be a great target for 15 other teams out there and odds are he doesn't even hit FA.
Something around Garland, Raty or Kudryatsev and 2 2nds (if not a first) should be able to do it.........I would look at seeing if they can somehow pry Horvat back.........I would take him all day long and while the price may be steep there are many paths to us getting the pieces we need and being right back in the mix.
