Sounds great. I'm still having a hard time imagining someone not named Jim Benning actually wanting Myers on their team, but there are still people who value bigness, I guess.
At $1M real cash he has value as a bottom-pairing defender. The value of cap space seems to have crashed a bit and I don't think this year's poor free agent crop will bump it up at all. Buffalo may as well use it constructively.

It's probably been said elsewhere, but Buffalo looks like a great place to dump Myers. He has a long history there, the team is reasonably competitive, they have tons and tons of cap space, almost no one to re-sign, and trying to integrate a lot of talented but inexperienced players into their defence.

Yup, Buffalo has kind of been my most likely destination for him for awhile.

They aren't going to be at the cap so for them his cap hit is irrelevant and they can get a 20 minute RHD for $1 million cash. Plus he has a long history there, and probably would be willing to waive to go back to a young improving team in a city where he likely still has a lot of friends.

Detroit is another team that might make sense as they have zilch past Seider at RHD after trading Hronek to us, but I don't know where they're going to sit in terms of spending and cap space and retooling their rebuild.

IN:
RC Colton Sissons for Garland
W Nils Hoglander 2 x 850k
LD Niko Mikkola 2 x 1.75 UFA
RD Filip Johansson

OUT:
Garland Pearson (buyout) Dermott Burroughs Poolman (LTIR)

KUZMENKO PETTERSSON HOGLANDER
MICHAYEV MILLER BOESER
PODKOLZIN SISSONS BEAUVILLIER
JOSHUA AMEN STUDNICKA

HUGHES BEAR
LARSSON HRONEK
MIKKOLA MYERS

bench - Di Guiseppe Kravtsov Dries Wolanin Johansson

* Hoglander has had chemistry with Pettersson and can be the dog on pucks. If he struggles he can switch with Beauvillier or Podkolzin
* Sissons would be a good exchange for us as we free up money and get a 3C. (Local kid too) Garland gets replaced internally for cheap by Hoglander and we get a good PKer and 3C
* I know OEL deserves to be punted but it's most likely they give him a last dance with that twinkle in his eye to play in the top4 before they get serious about buying him out.
* Mikkola would be a solid low maintenance pick up. Good penalty killer has some size.
* Myers i dont believe will be tradable without retention or adding draft picks. It's one year bite the bullet we need that money set aside for Pettersson Hronek etc anyway and he at least can play top4 minutes if we have an injury. If you can move him without losing assets sure. (i doubt it)

mikkola would be a great pickup but i think he gets more than 1.75m

i like sissons too but i doubt nashville are interested in garland. i do think sissons (or maybe glass even) is probably available though because nashville are absolutely flush with middle 6 centers. parssinen and novak are both left handed but both would be players the canucks should target if that miller trade with pittsburgh happens

Let's play a fun game—who is on Tyler Myers 10-team NTC list?
  • The goal of Myers is to not be traded. He would prefer to play his last year in Vancouver.
  • If Myers were to be traded, he probably doesn't want to spend a twilight year on a non-contender.
  • Let's assume that the Canucks goal is to trade him after his $5mm signing bonus has been paid.
  • The acquring team would pay a $6mm cap-hit in 2023-24, but only pay $1mm in actual salary.
Let's go first with seven teams that are purposefully rebuilding and who Myers would probably veto any trade to:

1. Arizona
2. Chicago
3. Anaheim
4. Columbus
5. San Jose
6. Ottawa
7. Montreal
8.
9.
10.

That leaves me with a handful of other teams (in alphabetical order) that could conceivably (ill-conceivably?) be interested in Myers to some degree:
  • Buffalo
  • Detroit
  • Florida
  • New York Islanders
  • Philadelphia
  • Seattle
  • Toronto
  • Winnipeg

I'm not saying he will be traded... but it seems difficult for me that Myers would be able to block any trade at all with his 10-team NTC.

I'm not sure Myers vetoes a trade to OTT. They are in need of a RHD, and they are on the rise. Other destination is BUF, for similar reasons and his former home.

For consideration: CGY. They need to shake things up and Tanev might be a good trade back from them. If Myers flops, they are out of his contract at the end of the year and can spend that money elsewhere. If he does well, he's likely to re-sign for a cost effective deal, considering the city's proximity to Kelowna/Vancouver.

I think him vetoing a few speculated trades has people thinking he can't be moved.

i thought myers already vetoed a trade to ottawa earlier this season.

tanev for myers would only happen if we have incriminating photos of trelliving.

Kuzemenko isn’t the first one and won’t be the last one to take a pass on rainbow. If anything more players will next season
At this point no body should be surprised

It's strange that Myers ever got paid more than Tanev, but that's the NHL. What we think about Myers, and I've never supported the player or contract here, may not be what others think of him. Same for Tanev.

Not sure about the earlier OTT veto? Time to try that again in the offseason. They have to make clear to him that he is not playing for the Canucks next year.

Should be pretty funny hearing the mental gymnastics from people that like Kuz and called Staals and Reimer a piece of shit:popcorn:
Yes, its totally the same for someone in North America to not wear the pride jersey vs. someone who grew up in Russia. Definitely the same. No cultural difference or anything like that. Same values and opinions in both cultures. In fact, it is well known that Russian Orthodoxy is the most popular religion in North America. And of course Eric Staal was worried about private or government persecution as a result of his decision to wear the pride jersey. He basically said this much.

I think Anaheim is a likely destination for Myers. Nice weather and not too for of a move geographically, he'll get playing time there and he can be dealt to a contender at the deadline like Klingberg. Plus big, crease-clearing defensemen is a need for them.

Im tired of this making a big deal over not wearing pride jersey. Its the persons decision if you want to judge their moral character base on one decision then you arent any better then the MAGA crowd.

It’s a good point. Someone should take him for free, then retain to get a pick at the deadline.

I think a team taking him for free is wishful thinking as a 6M cap hit requires a significant amount of cap flexibility and teams could choose to sign free agents instead. I wouldn't be surprised if there were 1-2 teams that are willing to take him on at most. That will require a sweetener, maybe something like Hoglander if the other team likes him.

Would anyone do Garland for Mathieu Joseph and Jacob Bernand-Docker. I don't see JBD really having a future with the Sens and I know Canucks have a thin RHD pool. Sure Joseph isn't the ideal downgrade, but he's still a solid piece that saves you cap space.
