I'd agree with this. There is valid criticism with respect to the Benning group not trading Vrbata last year. If the Twins did go to WD and ask not to play with him, then he should have been gone.

As for the ridiculous comment that they should uphold their promise and play him with the Twins no matter what, that's absurd.


Benning already 'broke' his promise in the first year. He played with Bonino. Did he complain then? Did we hear a peep out of Vrbata then? If he wanted to, he could have torn into management then, backed by a very strong year. He chose not to.

In your opinion, when should management be held accountable for what they say to Free Agents?

When it comes down to it he's supposed to be a professional paid millions of dollars. He can do his job as his management decrees, or he can request a trade. I'm not defending management here either.


He should have requested a trade in the offseason and let management deal with the fall out then. Right now, his resentment doesn't mean much because it is backed by a porous year. No one is willing to entertain a complaint from him. However, if this had come out in the offseason, when his 'star was burning bright', management would have been further vilified then.
