Based on the current shit storm with Buffalo, NYR and lesser so but Vancouver. Good chance at least 1 trade happens before the freeze.

My guess is it’s Buffalo and Vancouver. Seems like lots of smoke.

Everyone thinking blockbuster. Could see something smaller like Greenway and a 4th for Hoglander and a 7th.

Why would we trade for Dahlin when we have Hughes? I would love to see Dahlins metrics cause I don't understand if a player is that good surrounded with pretty talented defensemen can't have a minimum .500 team.

I understand it would bolster our defence tremendously but it seems like a pricey luxury to have Dahlin on your 2nd LD or even Hronek at 7.25 on your 2RD if Dahlin is on the 1RD.

I would rather trade Miller before trading Pettersson.

You'll never get the most out of him while already having a better defenseman in Hughes, that just doesn't make sense.

The Canucks could have the best PP2 in the league, and two 30 min per game D in the playoffs...

Honestly I'd probably do it...

Teams are going to what to "buy low" on Petey but the Canuck would be fools to let him go.
he was a 100 point , top 5 C in the league not long ago and he's still in his 20's and locked up long-term.

When Players like that get traded, the teams that let them go are the ones that lose the trade in the longterm. If i'm the Canucks GM, i'd expect a package that was reflective as if he was still that 100 point player. There's just too much skill there.

if its the NYR you ask for a package that they'd probably not be willing to part with, expect them to decline and you move forward keeping Petey,
Schneider, Trocheck, Cuylle
if its buffalo, then you ask for Coz, Byram, 1st
or Ottawa - Tkachuk, Pinto and a D

set the bar high, expect nothing to happen and make things work with what you have.
Van had mo Miller / Demko for a chunk of the season and they're doing great. Imagine taking a 100 pt C and a Vezna level goalie off any team and expect them to keep doing well... what Van has accomplished this year so far is amazing.

I don't think the Canucks can trade Petey without losing the trade. As someone who watches both teams (watched, in the case of Buffalo now), I don't think many if any of the trade proposals in the thread make sense for either team, Buffalo isnt trading Dahlin, and Canucks shouldnt be trading Petey.

Friedman should stick to breaking news and stay away from speculating because he sucks at it.

It would take a GM with some balls to trade Pettersson but it would also look bad on the organization for trading a star player just a year after he just signed that big deal.

Pettersson at his new cap hit does not look good long term. If the right deal came along, you take it.

If there's a group with huge balls that doesn't care what players think, it's Rutherford/Allvin

You can pretty much trace Petterssons fall off to the contract discussions last year. There was a disconnect between him and the org and then he was sort of forced into a contract under threat of being traded. I don’t think most players really thrive after that
