If it's true that Canucks are open to shopping Pettersson, I wonder if Pettersson and Desharnais for Thompson and Byram does it.
Bad deal for Buffalo imo. Pettersson isn't as valuable as some in the thread think. Massive contract and has been trending downwards since his 102 point season. below ppg player this year, on pace for 71 points.

Apropos nothing: who has more value: ep40 or M. Tkchuck?

Correct, but he’s valuable to Buffalo. Almost no 100 pt 1st line centers are available to trade little own don’t have a NMC. Petey can be traded to Buffalo by July 1. This is very valuable to Buffalo.

Why does Buffalo have to pay 100 point center prices for a player that isn't performing like a 100 point player? Don't see how that is valuable to Buffalo.

Buffalo is in a vulnerable position so I understand the vultures circling but I doubt they're trying to get ripped off.

It's the time to trade EP. You don't win with two soft centerpieces like Hughes and him in the playoffs.

One maybe, not 2.

That contract will look ugly fast.

I agree they'll try to trade him before his value continues sinking, it's already much lower than people want to think.

But the Hughes comment is crazy. Guy is the best dman in the league in nearly every metric.

I would trade Pettersson if the right deal came along. But it would unfortunately look bad on the Canucks organization if they trade a player within 18 months of signing their big contract.

Petterson's best season 39 goals, 102 points
Thompson's best 47 goals, 94 points

Petterson's current season 8 goals 26 points in 29 games
Thompson's current season 16 goals 25 points in 26 games

Petterson's contract 7 more years at $11.6M, until he's 33
Thompson's contract 5 more years at $7.1M, until he's 32

Madrid, Spain
Malkin (half retained), Pettersson (the defenseman who doesn't play for the Canucks yet, also half retained) for Joshua, Desharnais ,1st Round Pick, 3rd Rd Pick
Horrible and we only have one retention spot free. We can do Pettersson at 50% for a 1st.

Man, Pettersson for Thompson would be an epic base for a major blockbuster.

Malkin (half retained), Pettersson (the defenseman who doesn't play for the Canucks yet, also half retained) for Joshua, Desharnais ,1st Round Pick, 3rd Rd Pick
This is flat-out disrespectful.

Sabres there is no point trade Thompson, we need to add another top 6 C instead of trading our only legit top 6 C.

The Sabres, the Rangers and the Canucks all look to make a major shakeup to get their seasons back on track. But which one will do it first? Find out next week, on Dragon Ball Z!

Lol.

But really, the Canucks haven't even gone on a losing streak yet all season. It's just the home record that's concerning. We're trying to determine whether or not it makes sense to go all-in right now.

Quinn Hughes is the one constant that keeps this team thinking they're contenders - he's having an MVP-type start. Arguably already the best player in Franchise history, and we owe it to him to do everything we can.

Pettersson's second best season 34 goals 89 points (82 games)
Thompson's second best season 38 goals 68 points (78 games)

Pettersson's third best season 27 goals 66 points (68 games)
Thompson's third best season 29 goals 56 points (71 games)

The comparison keeps getting worse for Thompson from there.
