.65 PPG since signing his new contract. 85 game sample size. Guy has completely mailed it in since getting 11.6Mx8. Production has dropped .6 PPG from his previous two seasons. Dude is quiet quitting.

Doesnt mean he still wont be traded at the draft or before july 1 but for now The Canucks are willing to be patient with EP40 and see if he can re-gain his form. They have taken him off the trade market.

Bold move. Because it can get either better or a lot worse and that price won't be great if it's the latter and they'll want to move him before it gets harder with the clause.

I don't think it's a bold move.

They don't have an option to trade him with how badly he's been playing, so they might as well quiet everything down.

The room was split between players that sided with either miller or petey - rutherford eluded to this and said a rift would still exist no matter which one was traded .

feel like they'd still move petey if they can get an asset like dobson

That was 2 years ago, and a 1 off fluke season. The guy is a bust. Straight up.
This is his 7th NHL season and the only one where he isn’t pacing for at least 30 goals. He’s not a dud, dude.

Obviousness is missed. Can you explain
Obviousness meaning quantum and duration of their respective contracts. The question was (or at least the way I interpreted it) what other team has a player signed as long and for as much that could use a change of scenery. To me, that was obvious. I prefaced it by saying, however, that I;m not sure how he has been playing this year and how the fans feel about him.

All of those Rantanen deals would be before the TDL, and EP40 isn't a pending UFA, he just has a NMC kicking in on July 1st, hence the window of "end of season to July 1"
I wasn't referring to EP, I was referring to Rantanen. Off topic, I know, but the proposal was prefaced on a re-signed Rantanen.

Huberdeau is 5 years older and is on year 3 of disappointing production (though he’s a bit better this year). It makes zero sense. There’s a much higher chance of Pettersson turning it around than Huberdeau.
Obvious risk for both sides. Approximately same cap hit for approximately same duration where both players may benefit from a change of scenery. Both have demonstrated their offensive prowess in the past, and perhaps both can redeem themselves. I'm not suggesting it's likely, the question was what other situation. This one seemed logical to me.

From a strictly Canuck fan standpoint would you trade Pettersson for Cole Perfetti straight up?

This year Perfetti has played 7 more games and has one more point.

Pettersson has 3 more years @$11.6.

Perfetti one more year at $3.25 then RFA.

Pettersson has shown to have a higher ceiling.

Perfetti still has plenty of room to grow and Canucks receive more cap space to add to the roster.

No Jets fan input needed, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for them because of the cap obviously it costs the Jets more than just Perfetti.
