Great week for Kunz, as he scores 4 goals on 11 shots, and was +5 over 3 games for Green Bay (Was a tripleheader Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). Up to 13G 9A 22Pts 64Sog and +19 in 25Gp.

Green Bay's season wrapped up yesterday, so here's Kunz's final statline,

50GP 23G (22 5 v 5) 20A 43PTS (39 5 v 5) 0.86PPG 99SOG (23.2%) 45PIM +29.

Finished 24th in overall league scoring, and 10th in goals.

It's odd that his power play numbers are so low. Is there an obvious explanation that I'm missing? Why wouldn't he get time on the PP given that his even strength production is so high? If he does get time there, why are his numbers so low? Weird.

He's on the 2nd unit, and they don't get very many opportunities (Think of the Canucks 2nd unit for example).

I have a feeling this kid is the next Gaudette/Madden/Rathbone sleeper. Size, ES production, and my personal favourite: late birthday.

Assume he's heading to North Dakota for next season, provided that the NCAA returns to a full hockey schedule.

Hopefully can follow the same route as Aiden McDonough at Northeastern, who's turned himself from an afterthought in the draft to a legit prospect.

North Dakota is a pro hockey factory.....so he'll benefit from from excellent coaching and team facilities. Another guy to watch closely next season.

I watch/follow a fair amount of North Dakota and he's just been a meh to ok depth forward for the Fighting Hawks. Finally showed some progression this past year, but it's likely too little too late in order to become an NHLer. We'll see I guess.

There is zero chance he gets an NHL contract from the Canucks.

I was surprised to see him at the prospects camp earlier in the month, since it's been 4 years since he was drafted. Figured the Canucks rights lapsed as he returned to the USHL for another season before doing the past 3 at UND. Justin Schultz was just a JR when his rights lapsed because he remained in the BCHL for another season after his draft year.

He's basically a 5th year SR now.

He's shown up to every prospect camp since getting drafted. Kid wants to make this a career but, at best, will get a two-way AHL/ECHL contract from somewhere else.

I'm guessing he is eligible for one more NCAA year next year because of COVID?

He's a big guy. If he has a particular productive year (which some seniors do), he's the profile of a guy that teams look for as a potential hidden-gem college signing. He should be busting his butt to improve in all areas though, because regardless of how he does this year. he's gonna be seeing 2-3 years of AHL time with any club he signs with.
