In a mark turnaround, the Canes win their 5th game of the season. This time at the expense of fellow divisional rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now, the Canes are within 5 points from getting themselves off the foot of the table.
The goals came in the second period through Zamuner and McInnis. However, it was the inspiring play of blueline enforcer Purinton that got them the win. It was a spitful match that saw Chad Kilger ejected in the last few seconds of the game. The Leafs had their opportunities but didn't convert them.
"It was the best the boys have played this season. Everyone seemed focus and winning a few games helped our momentum today," said goaltender Milan Hnilicka.
A trip to St. Louis next. This could be a tough game but with the Canes in some solid form in the past few days, there could be a upset on the cards.
