[My Special Purpose]

The G1 thread was getting long and it's too early for a G2 thread, so here's a compromise. IMO, G1 was exactly to be expected. Canes inexperience and quantity falls to Caps experience and quality. Unfortunately, the *way* it happened made it more painful for Canes fans, with the power play failing to convert twice in the final nine minutes. Better special teams and better ice-time management from the coaches and we could earn a split.

I'm thinking at least two have major injuries they've been playing with. Aho, for sure, is nursing something. Slavin probably is as well.

DeHann is also probably returning quicker than what would be considered wise.

I'm also a fan but the 1st goal is on him. Nice shot from Backstrom but an NHL goalie has to make the save there. Having said that...if Mrazek doesn't start every single game of this series, I'm gonna be seriously upset

It is baffling to me that Roddy didn't put the 2nd unit out there. He shook up the lines going into the 3rd showing some flexibility. I'm at a total loss trying to understand the PP usage. I don't think this is the time of year to burn it down and rebuild it, but sending Hamilton and Svech out isn't some crazy "swing-for-the-fence" notion.

yeah. during that time out Hamilton was standing on the ice in front of the bench, and i remember thinking 'thank god theyre sending the second unit out there for this' and of course they didn't.

I kinda get what Brindy did during the regular season, showing confidence in guys and individual units. But the playoffs are a different animal. You've got to win the game, and if that means hurting some feelings, then so be it. It's really got to come down to getting guys on the ice who give us the best chance to win.

Slavin and Aho both looked uncharacteristically uncomfortable. Hoping they heat up as the series continues. The whole team in general looked a little overwhelmed, but really dominated play 5 on 5. If we can stay out of the box and maybe get a PP goal here or there I think we'll make this a series.

lol. Anyway, at the very least I've figured out my "good luck" Canes gear (svech black jersey and st. pete hat). I'm also taking #BackinBlack to the extreme as i'm wearing all black, black nail polish, and I am black...so, there' that.
