All the losers in here trying to argue against me should start thinking like winners and aim for the best player in the draft: Matvei Michkov.

It's OK, I know you've been conditioned to think that Montreal don't deserve superstars, but that's a toxic mentality. We deserve only the best players, the greatest superstars, and that's Bedard or Michkov. And we have a shot at one of them, miraculously.

Can i see any actual footage of Michkov where he is showing hockey IQ like Gretzky? Or any footage where he looks better than Bedard?

Some on line rumblings from combine. They never mentioned Fantilli trade inquiry. This was likely recorded before media broke it. Canadiens weren't impressed with Rainbacker interview. Considering that I can't see him being our pick. Unless Habs trade down. In fact couple GMs consider ASP top d-man in draft. They called him Quinn Hughes 2.0. But given success of teams with bigger D lately, I still feel Rainbacker be top D to go. Habs very high on Smith. But they don't think he's there. Word has it Sharks like him also. Likely why Habs trying to switch picks with them. No mention of Benson and Habs. Habs like Leonard. I'm not sure how much? Michkov they praised hell out of him. Saying stuff like can't win without stars. But Montreal unsure. Given the three years and mysterious death of his father. I get opinion Habs leaning not to select him.

Edit: I've been looking into it and maybe Briere said that Michkov won't be there at 7 from this podcast. The May 26th date is the same as the tweet so maybe that's where it came from. :dunno:

Not sure if it shows the IQ of Gretzky but it certainly shows his huge hockey sense and abilities. It seems incredulous to me how anyone could possibly be "sleeping" on Michkov



If the rumors of the habs wanting to move up in the draft are true. I would hope it's because they want to make sure Michkov is available to them. Because It's of my mind passing on him at 5 if we're lucky enough to have him slide there, would be a blunder of epic proportions. And that's no hyperbole.

I personally believe the pros far out weigh the cons. And the risk is minimal compared to the reward. At 5 Michkov should be for all intents and purposes a no brainer.

I still don't see how Hughes passes. I know I sure as hell wouldn't.

We'd literally be looking a gift horse in the mouth.

That being said, it could very well be them thinking "well both Bedard/Michkov and CC in the top 6 isn't ideal with their size so might as well draft a giant projected to go high in a bad draft class and miss out on the more talented player in a bad draft but take one next year where it's going to be good".


I actually think Arizona would be a great trade partner assuming a guy like Keller or Cooley want out. I'd give up the 5th OA for either.

Get over it, your team is not the only one who got robbed. They just look at stats in czech extraliga and say: "Meh, he sucks, he is lazy, he is innconsistent etc". It is going to be the same thing with Eduard Šalé who is put into much worse situation than Jiří Kulich in the same league, but the shock is going to be much bigger, because Šalé unlike Kulich is going to be superstar.

I can see Šalé becoming superstar much more likely than Barlow, Yager, Cristall, Dvorský, Wood, Leonard or Smith, because alot of these players are either terrible in one thing like skating, decision making or they are just good at best across the board. Šalé is superior skater than all of them and has definitely higher iq and ceiling, he has also big frame to fill in.

I've followed the draft long enough now to avoid that kind of prediction on anybody other than Bedard in this draft. Sale is in the 3rd waive for me.

1st waive: Bedard
2nd waive: Michkov, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith
3rd waive: Several of the guys you listed and more.

There are guys that surprise into superstars but I'm not willing to say that for Sale as this point in time. The only fair argument you can make is he belongs in the 2nd waive. That would be a fair debate.
