Zero chance. Hughes definitely wants Smith. He's traded for players he's got close connections with already. And he used to coach Smith, I believe.

I just hope San Jose takes Smith and Hughes goes with Benson.
I also think he’d move up to get Smith not Michkov.

The reason they want to move up might have nothing to do with Michkov and everything to do with acquiring a better center than they would get at 5.
Or it can be a mix of both. We don’t really know but these endless reports that have the Habs scrambling are not helping.

Sure, why not? We've been horrible at asset management forever. Don't see why we should start getting good at it now.

I, on the other hand, would suggest keeping 5, drafting BPA, and trhen getting another pick in the top 12 or so to #GetWood

I would stay at 5 and take Michkov myself.

But if Hughes wants to move up to draft Fantilli or Carlsson it will cost a lot.

Whenever I don't come in here for 48hres, there's automatically a new bandwagon that people jump on....... crazy how within a week Smith was the guy most talked about, 2 days later Leonard is on everyone's lips, and 2 days later it's now Benson who's the hot ticket.
Can't wait to tune in Friday when I read about the next new best flavor.

Whoever we’re not picking IS the correct answer

Just pick Leonard and be done with it. He’s the closest thing to “a Tkachuk” we’re gonna get.

Other than having skills, he fits the profile of the type of player we need in the top-6.

Oh perhaps but if Michkov was playing was canadian , He would be close to Bedard. I still think they are a huge gap between those 2 and the other 3.
They may also not like Michkov's size and game. You have your conclusions from your expertise in scouting and viewing hours. And they have theirs from all their expertize and viewing hours.

And they can go f*** themselves.

I've had it. While Hughes was kicking it in the US for most of his life I was there in Montreal rooting for this horrible team all my f***ing life.

They better not f*** this up if they pass on Michkov. If they go with Michkov and it fails, they have carte-blanche from me, I'm OK with it, I give them a pass.

"Expertise" my ass. f*** this. Broscience at its finest. "What is your favorite animal?"

Go f*** yourself motherf***er.

Pick Michkov.

As long as they pick someone who can cook with a frying pan...

But I'm just going to see who they pick and then wait to see how it turns out. Nothing else I can do. See, wait, and see.

Despite my apparent radicality i'm a pretty reasonable guy. Last year, I wasn't dogmatic about who to pick. I get the nuances and uncertainty surrounding such decisions.

This year tho it's a slamdunk, you go with Michkov and hope for the best. If it fails, you take the hit, that's it.

I can respect this point of view.... I just wish I was able to watch him play more and particularly vs. his peer group (aka U18's etc..)

But man would I be excited if we land him!
