I think after 30 years wandering in the wilderness of irrelevancy , most fans here just want to win, period.

For all I know, it could be another 30 years before they win.

So while trying to win, I want to have fun watching nice goals and plays. Michkov gives that. Reinbacher doesn’t. Benson does that( although I wouldn’t want him at 5 but I’d prefer him at 5 vs. Reinbacher ).

So I don’t know when the Habs will win but I do know I will enjoy every minute with a Michkov of the ice.

The disinformation agents are working overtime.

Michkov is ours. The Caps gotta pay the price if they want him.

It was on a popular Russian podcast. Nikolishin was dressed in a Capitals polo and said that Michkov's attitude towards 'teammates, coaches, management and fans' was very disrespectful, and that he could 'easily' fall out of the top 10.
Idk. Maybe. Who knows? If Michkov falls even out of the top 5, he will still be the BPA by a mile, and he'll be 3 years older (and likely a lot more mature) when his SKA contract is over.

Seen reports on Facebook Habs trying to move up to 2nd. But costs going to be high they say. Imagine they want one of our young D. Likely Guhle I imagine

I mean Anaheim really doesn't need more prospects. They've got a shit ton already.

Zegras: 22
Drysdale: 21
McTavish: 20
Zellwegger: 20
Mintyukov: 20
Dostal: 22
Gaucher: 19
Luneau: 19

Are all pretty considered top prospects, and there's more depth prospects behind them. 4 of the above are D-men.

I would do it for real !

1st round pick 2023 MTL
1st round pick 2023 FLA
1st round pick 2024 (top 2 protected)

Time to gamble on an player that I project in a Franchise player
Or do none of that pick Mitchkov and keep your 2 other first and end up with the better player in this years draft.

Michkov is not happening

Never had the chance to draft an player of Fantilli caliber, I prefer swinging on that type of talent then the guy that will be available at 5 and 2 other Mesar

But that at least - in part - has to do with the value offered right?

But I get what you're saying, and if a team is set on picking it would likely take a massive overpayment.

It's probably unrealistic, but fun to think about. I just wanted to get others thoughts on what it would take to get ANA or even CBJ to bite on a swap.
There is an established trade value between picks in the 1st round over the last 10 years, if a team is asking for an overpayment, it's because they aren't interested in trading their pick.

Most of the trade suggestion in this thread for the 2-5 picks are overpayments not worth doing. Lets not forget that picks are magical beans, even the consensus #1 oa can bust.

Or they are a lot smarter than us? Grab Michkov at five with the 31st and cgy first and run

Says who?

You, nor I, nor anyone else knows what their true plans are. If we did, it would look bad for Hughes, especially weeks before the draft.

Not if the rumours are true.

Good god, if the rumors are true, it would mean Hughes tipped his hand. I know y'all think we're all well informed, but we're not.

But the journalists that came up with that, you think they pulled this out of their asses?

I’ll save folks the trouble. There’s no trades within the top 5 to support their valuations. Overall, very little data from an inefficient market.

And the article has gems like this:
The closer to trade-up is to the top of the draft, the more volatile the discrepancy becomes, as teams will often try to overpay compared to the average to secure the pick from their peers.
The standard deviation is of three value points, give or take, within a trade, which is normal when considering in real-life factors like trade urgency, draft pick stock and draft quality.

In a few hours, things went from "Habs trying to grab Smith by trading up one spot at #4" to "Habs trying to grab Fantilli by moving up at spot #2". I'm expecting a "Habs trying to get #3 from CJB to get Carlsson" or "Habs trying to get Bedard from Chicago" any time now.
How often are top 5 picks even moved? We hear these “trying to move up” rumors before every draft and then they all die with a whimper once the team who is trying to move up, gets wind of what it would cost.

Wow they desperately do not want to pick Michkov. Look the only reason to move up would be to pick him. Stop being dumb, HuGo. Mich is the second most skilled guy in the draft. People would freaking love him. We need franchise players, don't be Bergevin.
I was trying to keep an open mind but that RadCan article has me wondering — Michkov looks like a hot potato the Habs don’t want to have to deal with.
