Watch his game winning goal for Team Canada vs Latvia at the Worlds from a few weeks ago and tell me what you think of his hands.

I expressed myself poorly. Fantilli obviously has good hands, just not sure he has GREAT hands.

Great hands are the difference between dekeing everyone in junior and doing it Kovalev-style in the NHL.

His goal was a good move that could work in the NHL, sure.

Ducks are pretty set everywhere. Can't see them being interested in moving back, even if you're throwing in the Habs best assets.

Pretty telling imo
No chance of them moving the 2nd pick and no chance of the habs doing it anyway.

4th pick might be possible though

At some point in the "rebuild" you have to decide you have enough quantity and go for quality and if your team believes Fantilli is way above and beyond the rest, you pay the price. IMO.

Too bad Bergevin isn't the GM of Anaheim, Columbus, or San Jose. He'd be jumping out of his seat to take our offers to move back.

Well we know they asked Carlsson what it would take to move up in the draft to get him, so we know he's one player they want...

I agree.

But what is the price?

Can it be done with Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf and Guhle off the table?

So they really want Will Smith, and want to ensure they can pick him.

Interesting.

I'd much rather go after 3 to take Carlsson or just take Benson at 5. I prefer both to Fantilli. Moving up for Will Smith would be.. disappointing for me to say the least.

interesting that hughes is trying to get into the top four to draft a C.
If this happens, he's either trading Dach for Dubois, or he's given up
the idea of trading for him altogether
:sarcasm:

Americans are increasingly becoming a hazard to pick.

Many of them will prefer to go back to the US asap. Not all, sure.

I much rather we draft Canadians, then Russians/Euros, than Americans, if the choice is close.

Getting the 4th is useless unless you aim for Michkov.
Would you rather they move up to get Smith or they stay at 5 and draft Reinbacher?

I’ll take to move up to get Smith.

Of course if they want Michkov and I am also fine with this.

Dach can play with Suzuki and Caufield. Dubois can also play the wing.

So I wouldn’t put too much into it. He probably just doesn’t want Michkov but wants one of the other guys.

I'm not high on Smith. He's fun to watch for sure, but he makes me nervous unlike anyone else in contention.

I think I would rather they pick Reinbacher, purely out of that nervosity.

And I'm a "swing for the fences" kind of guy. But here this is too much.

All this is moot, if Michkov is gone by 5th they should pick Benson imo.

Caufield out, Dach out, Slaf out, Guhle, Xhekaj out… not really the habs fault if they won some more games because of RHP or Belzile, could not have done really better to lose than to call up AHL guys.
I’m with you on that one….Dvorak out, man, they hD to do an OHL call up they were spread so thin.

At the end of the day, it’s the players that play and you can’t manipulate the outcome.

Arizona tried sooooo hard to tank but thr players had other plans.

We are so lucky to be picking 5th because if Caufield doesn’t opt for surgery (with the habs blessing of course) and Guhle and Xhekaj are not out…..we are picking 9-10 at best.

The philosophy was wrong right from game one. We could very easily have kept the bulk of our rookie D and Slaf in Laval picked up a few more waiver wire players and ensured that teams with more talent like San Jose and Anaheim don't out tank the dead last team from the previous year. More Wideman too would have helped. The Pro Tankers always wanted two years particularly with this year's top end. Suzuki and company would have sucked in their guts just the same and that winning culture BS was just that BS. Get some players then work on the culture. I thought we were more intuitive.
