Post-Game Talk: Canadiens @ Rangers 2/19/13 - Moar Icing

I just love our luck. Team has been riddled with injuries this year and ****s with the chemistry. Nash and Powe's absence was noticeable.
 
Del Zotto has to go. As far as I'm concerned there's two primary objectives for a defenseman: be good at defense obviously, and be effective on the PP. Del Zotto is awful at both.

And maybe Staal should go to Carolina, it'll be a few less turnovers leading to a goal against for us.

Add Staal to the good list.

Aside from the shots that were blocked, and he's not really an offensive guys anyway, he was OK. Blocked a lot of shots himself. Felt he got a big gassed tonight, though. He played over 26 minutes. In a game that didn't get passed regulation. Not on the ice for a goal against.

This was an awful game, though. Neither team wanted to give an inch. Or take one.
 
I try to stay away from post game stuff and hating on players too much, but for some reason after this game I have to.

Richards is awful.

Gaborik is in the off-year of his off-again on-again crap. Thats unacceptable.

Del Zotto is garbage and I don't care how young he is or what his stupid potential could be one day maybe. He sucks right now and it needs to change.

I don't like Stepan. Yeah, he had the assist. It was a nice pass, but too often he makes ****** dumps, cant check and is slow. His shot consistently gets blocked(like Del Zottos and Richards) and I feel like he has just been reaping the benefits of constantly getting time with good players like Hags, Nash, Gaborik and Callahan.

Maybe I'm wrong and really frustrated. I don't know. It just makes me sad watching my team suck again when I thought we were gunna be good.

Odd...because Staal wasn't on the ice for any of the three goals against.
 
People that say that MDZ is awful at defense really like to exaggerate. The guy has really bad games from time to time. Girardi has horrible months. Staal earlier in his career game many games in a row where he looked like ****. Only D-man that rarely has bad games is McDonagh.

And what - have Stu Bickel as a top-4 defenseman?

Do agree with one thing - some of these guys look like they are out of shape. I can live with Del Zotto's occasional bonehead decisions, but he looks slow and out of shape. He should worry less about his contract and more about his hockey, the contract will take care of itself.
 
Looks like I have to watch games by myself. Every single game I spent sitting in the living room with my pops has ended with me having to leave the room.

Not only that, my pops has a dodgy heart; he shouldn't be going through this ********.

You "don't like" Stepan. And its obviously biased and baseless considering he's been one of this team's best players.

"Makes dumps". Getting the puck deep when there are no other options, is 100% the right decision. Make the opposition go 200 feet.
 
Reading this board after every loss is painful. Seriously, it doesn't matter how this team loses, the whole team is garbage. Seriously it's getting ****ing old already. I didn't see the game after the 2nd goal, so I guess it could have gotten worse, still most of the game we outplayed them and lost by 1 goal (minus the empty net). Why is it that it doesn't matter how we lose the entire team sucks. Seriously, I usually don't use this, because it's usually inappropriate, but the way people react to EVERY ****ing loss you'd think they'd expect the Rangers to win every game. I wouldn't ask if you guys expected 48-0 if you only *****ed about the really bad losses, but it's every ****ing loss. The only way to prevent the *****-fest is for them to go undefeated.

P.S. I realize I've gone overboard before, doesn't take anything away from my point, since that's not right either.

Well obviously Staal is still a very serviceable player and would have to be replaced with someone good.

Some drunk fat guy sitting in section 405 could replace Del Zotto.
 
I am so sick and tired of watching Gaborik gain the zone only to cough up the puck because he thinks he can dangle around defenders EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!

It's not Gaborik's fault he's being misused. In no way, shape, or form, should Gaborik be carrying the puck into the offensive zone. He needs to create his own space by using his speed, find open slots, and a distributor to get him the puck, boom one-timer.

It's not like Nash, who's best served by receiving the puck in the neutral zone after building up speed from our own zone.

This is another one of those times where I need to remind myself that I'm no expert. But it sounds good, doesn't it? :laugh:

Not only that, his shot is gone. Probably due to that shoulder injury.
 
I live in Montreal and watch many Habs games, and I've got to tell you, this was one of their worst games of the year! However, unlike the Rangers, this was their 3rd game in 4 nights, and a back to back, were they got into NY at 2AM the night before!! We should have come hard at them from the puck drop and we didn't, and this is were we lost the game, we made it way to easy for them. Why all this respect for a team that finished last in the conference last year, playing in our building!!!!
I will guarantee you one thing Saturday night, they will come out playing a different game, more up tempo, and if we don't match that, it could get ugly, and quickly...for us.

Nonetheless, overraction, much? Leave to Carolina because of a blocked shot that lead to a goal.
