Max Pacioretty
Nathan Beaulieu
David Desharnais (filler for rest of season + contract purposes)
2nd round pick

for

Ryan Strome
Brock Nelson
Calvin DeHaan
Dennis Seidenberg

Why Montreal does it: Get a potential #2 centre in Ryan Strome (maybe he would thrive under different condition). Nelson can be a good #2 LW, in a way replacing Patches. De Haan can partner Weber better than Beaulieu. Seidenberg is depth for a playoff run.

Why NYI does it: Jt gets a winger. DeHaan may have been lost in expansion. Beaulieu probably wouldn't get claimed in expansion IMO and has the potential to be a top 4 D. Desharnais would go back just to be a warm body to end the year and then wouldn't be re-signed. A 2nd is a 2nd. In expansion NYI protects: JT, Patches, Ladd, Cizikas/Bailey/Lee, Hamonic, Leddy, Boychuck, Pulock.

For a team that's only out of 1st by a point, there sure are a lot of proposal from Habs fans. Why try and fix what's not broken?

The explanation sucks realy hard... You basicly want to trade Pacioretty to add a "potential" 2nd centre... not a solution. So you want to take a bet by trading our best forward. This is simply not good

You pretend that Beaulieu will not be claimed when we all think that we'll lose him or Emelin.... So you dont recognize Beaulieu value... but you put him like a valuable asset in a trade. This doesnt work

Ok a 2nd is 2nd, but our second doesnt worth a 2nd like others ones

Yeah, it is getting somewhat ridiculous. Fire the failing coach first! Hire Gallant to replace him and get a translator for the media appearances.

Anyone who watches every Habs game knows that this team will not win the cup with this roster. We have a good first line (Chuck+Radulov) and a 4th line that does it's job. Our D needs upgrades as well in case Price isn't God all year.

Trading Pacioretty and replacing him with Nelson while getting a young offensive centre and upgrading from Beaulieu to DeHaan isn't bad IMO.

Pacioretty is not our best forward.

What I meant is with the option for Vegas to claim one of New Yorks goalies, Lee/Cizikas/Bailey/Clutterbuck or Beaulieu, I do not think he would be claimed. He has value since he is cheap and young, but there may be better options in expansion.

Strome is playing now like a third liner maybe he'll pick it up, maybe he won't. Even if Pacioretty is not involved in some games, he still has a laser beam wrister which is good enough to make him a 30 goal scorer. Also he doesn't have a very good relationship with MT, so that doesn't help for sure and he would also play better with a decent 2C.

At this point if the Habs want to contend, they need to hang on to Pacioretty since you won't get a goal scorer at a better cost if you trade him. Habs are 2 players away from being a solid contender imo, a 2C and a LD to play with Weber. Then again, only 1 of the 2 may be required look at the defense Pittsburgh had last playoffs.

If I'm LV, I'd get either Lee or Beaulieu depending on my needs. They are some better goalies available than NYI, Bailey is worth less and Cizikas/Clutterbuck have high cap hits for support players (even if they're good at it).

Even there, you still have a choice between a forward UFA the next year and Beaulieu as a RFA. Its pretty clear for me that Vegas will not construct a team over pending UFA. Beaulieu would be my choice there.... and agree about the goalie. They have plenty of them around the league. They could even trade after if they want to
