I remember reading an article a few years ago that rated the Canadian sports teams in terms of merchandise sales. No surprise that the habs and leafs were one and two, but guess who was #3?

I would have guessed the canucks, but it was actually the Saskatchewan roughriders. I know rider nation is legendary, but that is incredible for a smaller cfl team to sell that much merchandise.

If you actually believe that the Habs outsell the Blue Jays in summer, you'd be sent to a nuthouse. Categories: "Most Respected", "Perception of Popularity", Perception of Most Loyal Fans", "Perception of Stadium Atmosphere"... seriously, come on. Whose perceptions? Perceptions, maybe but not reality with any real data. In May during the Cup race, hockey would outdraw other sports but in summer ... no. The Blue Jays would lead with both fans and sales in summer.

"The research reveals that individual NHL brands are very strong, but mostly in their local or regional markets [and hockey is in May]" Do the Habs sell most jerseys in Quebec in May .. yeah, but outsell the Blue Jays nationally and in summer months ... no way.

Because the research was conducted online, he said it is considered to be a non-probability proportion sample and therefore, margins of error are not applicable ...

Just an example of misleading garbage survey articles on HFB.

Leafs (and Cubs...) fans are a special breed though... Would we be still filling the Bell Center if we wouldn't have won in more than a half century? If we were almost always out of the playoffs? Every season opener would we be thinking that this was finally our year?

The Leaf fans would be happy if the Maple Leafs were able to make a 100% personnel swap with the Canadiens. Conversely, the Canadien fans would be unhappy. Why is the hockey season shorter in Toronto than in Montréal One team makes the playoffs and perhaps advances a round or two while the other cleans out its lockers and endures an agonizing summer wait--only to experience the same thing déja vu every year. Top league compared to what..the NFL? Stopped watching them 15 years ago, too much hype and boring games. CFL far better entertainment value.

This survey works for me, my 2 favourite teams on top in most categories, Habs and Riders.

I'm a die hard Rider fan and always have been. I'm also a Habs fan from the first time I really remember watching them with my Dad in 1983.

Our loyalty to the Riders is like the residents of Montreal to the Habs. The passion we have towards our clubs is unmatched. I'm a Prairie boy that bleeds green, but I have some Bleu, Blanc et Rouge in there as well.
