Canada-Russia is the best rivalry in international hockey. It's a shame Russian hockey took a step back since the golden Soviet era.

Yes the best rivalry was Canada vs the CCCP!! Miss the old Soviet battles. I was too young for the '72 series but remember all to well the great Canada Cup of '87!! I was the free world against "them!" While I hate communism (pinkos) and everything it stands for I have always respected Russian hockey. Today their skill level still "there" in the game. There is no better or scarier opponent for Canada than Russia. Both of us have lethal offensive weapons on ice and this must be respected!

Best on best, it's not close, Canada has mopped the floor with Russia in that regard.

Canada has learned more from the Russians than the Russians have learned from them over the years, which is why Russian hockey is so meh now.

This is a pretty one sided rivalry as well, with vast majority of the heart break being from Russia's end. Losing the Summit series in Russia, losing the Canada Cup and Watching Canada win gold in Russia at the 2014 Olympics.

The Canada Cup's were so awesome to watch as a kid. And I find myself hating pinkos a lot less 30 years after our society stopped teaching me to hate pinkos. (looking at you Rocky IV ) Hope it's a great game with both teams at their very best.

Canada never had victories like 8-1 or 6-0 though.

Think our Juniors beat them something like 9-1 one time...also if ur counting world jrs before about 1978 those tourneys weren't official + we used to send previous years Mem Cup champs...so long way removed from A-Teams

Nah, I count Canada Cup 1981 and The Challenge Cup 1979. Well, the latter was technically NHL vs Soviet Union, but the NHL team was mostly Canadians.
