Can Turris handle the #1 Centre position?

Putting on 20 pounds of lean mass is a tall order. Especially considering an NHL player's general activity level and high metabolic rate.

Turris is what he is at this point. He isn't gonna turn into a jacked monster any time soon.

At 29 30 31 32 he should be able to keep weight a little better. And I totally expect that to be his prime.

Yeah that's true, but we're talking about a skinny dude putting on 20 pounds of muscle while burning like 4000+ calories a day (I assume; obviously have no clue what Kyle Turris's maintenance is lol).

Have we seen physical transformations like this from other NHL players? The way that I understood it the really jacked/big players came into the league that way.

I'm not saying Turris can't/won't get stronger, but we should probably temper expectations.

Here's a link to an article that indicates Turris consumes between 5500 - 6000 calories a day and even with this intake can't keep his ideal playing weight.

Turris was having a pretty great season until that twisted knee incident vs the Islanders in early December. I'm not going to say he'd be on pace for 70 points if that incident hadn't happened, but he certainly hasn't been the same since.

Zibanejad becoming the #1 centre would be great in theory, but he needs to show a lot more for that to happen. Too often he isn't comfortable with entering the zone with possession and unfortunately he has a rep now for not starting the season well.

Man that is insane.

That's my point though. 6000 calories is an obscene amount of food, even if you're eating nothing but McDonalds and KFC. I just don't see him being able to put on 20 pounds of lean muscle at this point in his career.
