People are going to have serious buyers remorse trading for Boeser and signing him long term.
You know Ive watched many games of Brock Boeser and see him go on stretches doing nothing on the offense side of the puck and am convinced he is done and he all of a sudden goes on a huge stretch of games scoring a ton of goals and being clutch. Hes hard to read, I keep expecting him to drop off and then he goes off. Has good playoffs stats too, I dont think teams will regret trading for and signing him, provided is not more than $8 mill per season..

Just to be clear, is this Boeser not wanting to re-sign or the Canucks wanting to move on? I read some comments from Boeser the other day, but wasn't sure.

The weird thing with Boeser, is that he's also a real master of the "ghost game". Where you barely even notice he played, but somehow ends up the night with 3 points in the box score. So even when he's not making a real obvious impact...he's usually still at least producing, in some capacity. But he is also very vulnerable to "disappearing" on the ice. He's not a big, fast, physical player who is going to rattle the boards or lay a guy out. He's not much of a factor in transition or as a puck carrier. He's not a shutdown ace or PK wizard. He's not even a really pure "playmaker" who is going to make those flashy dangles and thread the needle passes. So when he's not scoring goals, he's often not very "noticeable" on the ice.

It's the Canucks taking the opportunity to get younger and faster (or trade a rental for a 1st+, then flip the 1st for a player with term).

Boeser has been pretty vocal about wanting to stay, he's a pretty loyal guy. Check out his prom stories, he's a high character guy that every fan would want on their team.

It sounds like your basic trade deadline ask. They will probably settle for a B prospect instead of a former first rounder who is ready to break into the NHL. But it's like everything that leaks out, whether it is contract numbers or trade asks, the first leaked price is usually the ask - which is high because it's a negotiation.
