I want to protect him, but in case they don't and want value, I'd ask for something around Hudson Fasching and a 2nd/3rd. I doubt he'd be moved during the season.

There's some players on Buffalo or in the prospect pool that can help NYI, but either their value is A LOT of higher than de Haan's, or not close enough for NYI to consider moving him.
Also de Haan-Seidenberg has been NYI's best pairing by a country mile thus far. He's not going to be moved easily despite the expansion draft looming.

We havent really seen any trades based off of protecting/maximizing value because of the expansion draft yet.
Lets say both De Haan and another player have similar value.
What does it cost to get CDH, considering that means the other player will be taken.
Islanders loose both CDH and the other player, and get...? This kind of value hasnt been established yet.
IMO only makes sense if the pieces coming back dont need to be protected.
I.E. Prospect LHD+pick for De Haan.

I really like Carp Lad. He's a real stable guy to have in the back end. For the right price, maybe.
