What's your point? At the end of the day all that matters is points. Points wise the Flames tied for the second Wild Card.

I would support having a short best-of-3 play-ins between the WC teams and the next 2, to avoid such oddities. Basically, this year :

St. Louis vs Calgary
Minnesota vs Vancouver
Ottawa (but it should be NJ actually) vs Detroit
Montreal vs Columbus

This would be wrapped in 5 days while the other teams rest.

My point was responding to someone posting something that was correct. Also correct is the Flames are not in the playoffs. Not sure why this thread is even in a the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs section.

This is a fallacy as they would’ve played different teams a different amount of times, and the three bottom teams on the west provided the most “gimmie” points by far.

West got to beat up on Nashville, Chicago, and San Jose. Flames are a middling Western team and didn't make it. -13 goal differential. 31 RWs. Point totals don't tell the whole story. Flames played Sharks 4x, Preds 3x, Blackhawks 3x. Total record in those 10 games was 9-1.
