I posted this exact idea a few weeks ago. As a Kings fan I probably like Campbell's upside a bit more rn

Kings restored Campbell 's game once and i think could again however the contract is to long for to much money I would rather try to get Peterson going by getting him starts in the ahl

I think the Kings make a big play for someone like Demko. A guy a little younger that can grow with their group like they envisioned with Peterson.

I'm sure they'd love to get Demko, but I don't see him or many others like him being available.

Not that swapping Petersen for Campbell sounds like a great idea either because as this guy said...
I mean from the Kings point of view, trading a terrible goalie for a very bad goalie with longer term isn't very appealing.

Weird how things turn out?

Scuttlebutt was that they traded Campbell, since Peterson was going to be the man.

Now both are in this thread.

Jack Campbell is the most likable player in the league. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing, but he is.

But I’d rather have Petersen’s buyout than Campbell’s, so here we are.

What's it worth to the Oilers for the Kings to add 2.5 years in age, 2 years of term, and $8.5m more dollars to the payroll?

Petersen looks like he's done... Regressing and regressing. I'd probably keep Campbell if I were the Oilers.

Oilers needs defense not an even worse goalie.
the curious thing about this take is that while, yes, our defence needs improvement, we have another goalie putting up a .914 and is in the top ten in the league in GSAX.

our defence isn't great, but Campbell has been awful and he's gotten his lunch eaten by Stuart Skinner

I mean, your odds of scoring on an average shot on either are pretty good right now, so I don't think it matters about rebounds at all.

He's very fragile mentally at this stage. Big time pressure in Toronto and now big time pressure to live up to the contract with the Oilers.

He's better than what he is showing at the moment but he wasn't as good as what he did with the Leafs. The issue right now is negative energy and mindset and not sure he can shake it off.

I think the Oilers are willing to try anything to get his confidence back. Maybe this works

Oh I know but as far as Im concerned Oiler biggest need is at least one defenseman. Trading for a worse goalie wouldnt help now even if his buyout would be preferable in the summer.

I think Oilers fans would agree that our need for a defenseman is pretty big. I don't even think our blueline is that bad as individual parts, we just have too many puck moving types. Like, basically only puck moving types.
