will be interesting to see if Rantanen can step it up. had the chance to show Carolina was a bad situation, but finishing < ppg again is pretty unimpressive.

I know, right? 18pts in 19 games so far, after being traded twice, man I tell ya, us Stars fans just hate the guy.

What a bum.

Ugh, can't believe it.

No heiskanen will be big for the avs. From what I remember in 2023 matchup mackinnon got shutdown a lot of games.

The crazy part is Tanev probably played more of an individual role in shutting down MacKinnon than Heiskanen did. And Dallas doesn't have either.

True, can't argue that - and again I certainly hope Dallas doesn't even attempt to rush Miro back before he's 100%, no matter how rocky the series starts.

Also this'll be the third meeting in a row, between these two teams, where the Avs have the best two players in the series.

2020 - Mack, Rantanen

2024 - Mack, Makar

2025 - Mack, Makar

Would that be fair to say, you think?

Dallas found a way to get it done in the past, and hey, might figure out a way this year too.

That said, if the Avs finally pull off the series win this time around, it wouldn't surprise me. :dunno:

The team that isn't currently on a six game losing streak (seven after tonight) to win in five or six games here.

I think any Dallas fan will tell you how bad the team has played as of late, even during their big winning streak, and have been getting away with playing bad/mediocre hockey for the past few months. So it's going to be tough to just flick the switch against the star power likes of Colorado who will be a tough out for anyone in these playoffs.

You would be shocked by the number who think getting outplayed for the last 2.5months means nothing because they still won most games, and that the current losing streak is because the team doesn't care anymore and is "going to flip a switch for the PO"

No Heiskanen and no Tanev. Harley and Lindell are going to have to enter godmode and play 35 minutes a night.

Makar could easily be the difference maker in this series.

Dallas hasn't played good since about February. I hope they find their game but until they show it I will say Avs in 5.

I don't watch much of the stars but is Heiskanen really that much of a difference maker? If he's on the top pair then ok, their bottom two pairs still lack competency on one side.

This series is so hyped and everyone is describing it as a potential Stanley cup final if seeding was different. But really - I could very well see a lopsided bloodbath in Avs favour.

Avs so hot right now.

Stars so cold right now.

Hopefully I’m wrong and it an epic 7 game series. Can’t see it happening with stars defence.

Miro is what Lidstrom was to Detroit. So yeah, he is that much of a difference maker.

Yes Stars are cold, but Avs being 5-4-1 is hot?

Both teams have been playoff beasts the last few years and what the end to their regular season was shouldn’t dictate what this series will be. They have stacked rosters, and both are arguably one of the deepest teams in the playoffs.

There is a chance Avs take care of business quick without Miro, but I think the Stars depth and Otter will prevent that from happening and hopefully keep it close enough until (if) Miro comes back.

I think Makar and MacKinnon will be a factor too much on both defence and offense for the Stars.
Even if Heiskanen returns, he has been out for too long and Stone's actions will probably echo for a while as a major injury, and the Stars' offensive lines have not seemed to be as strong as the Avalanche's.

TSN Insider Chris Johnston:

"Right now they are hoping he'll be available for that round one series, but I think it's not much more than hope at this point in time.

It does sound like from sources close to the situation, it's very possible Heiskanen is not available at all during the first round to the Dallas Stars. He had a knee surgery, has been out since the end of January. He did resume skating at the end of March, but that's a pretty long period of time to be recovering.

Obviously, when it comes to the playoffs, sometimes those injury timelines get shrunk and guys find a way to get back in the lineup, but right now it's far from a certainty we'll see Heiskanen in that first-round series."

Stars have loss 7 straight games, and 7 straight game 1's. Saturday might be an ugly one to say the least

This team does NOT have it. I'd be shocked to see this series go past 5 games
