Looks like he has a bad case of Skinneritis. It's contagious during the playoffs and there is no known cure at this point.
He is closing in, not there yet, but there is time

Thats what they do all regular season, its why he has the stats that he does
Helley saves way above expected during the season. His playoffs are the complete opposite. The Jets are a club, because they have such a big advantage over their opponent in net, that can play a more risky offensive game. They, in essence, can trade chances knowing Shelley will win the goalie duel. In the playoffs he’s been losing that battle, and badly.

Hellebuyck is proof that expected goals is another bullshit stat. The team helps him far more than he them. Definition of a system goalie

That’s your opinion, which is fine. I’m not a stats guy either, but there are times when they do apply. And high danger chances (especially off the rush and cross ice) are more likely to go in than stationary shots from one side. Most teams play to limit those types of high danger chances. The jets take risks offensively that result in turnovers, which lead to these types of chances. During the regular season Helly stops those and the game turns into an end exchange if high danger chances. Helley wins those games. But in the playoffs he struggles badly. But the Jets are playing the same way. Hence the big losses.

The thing is, Hellebuyck's high danger chances are inflated from the absurd amount of rebounds he gives up. He sits his ass on the goal line which helps reduce the amount of movement needed to recover into a rebound save, and he stops those rebounds.

The difference is in the regular season the Jets play in playoff mode and take away most of the time and space for teams making the first shot, which makes Hellebuyck's life easy and allows him to play deep in his net. But come playoff time, when offenses have that extra gear, they can beat the Jets and give themselves more time to pick the top corners on Hellebuyck, who still sits far too deep in his net.

I agree the secondary scoring has been anemic and quite pathetic for WPG but a shaky goalie permeates through an entire club. Trust me, this was my entire experience for 30 yrs as a blues fan before Binner entered the scene. I know the feeling.
The way I see it the Jets couldn't light up shit ass Georgiev when they had Monahan and Toffoli on their 2nd line. The Jets downgraded massively losing those two, so they sure as shit aren't going to light up Binnington.

Its funny, because I brought this up to a few friends before playoffs started and they assured me Scheifele and Connor are just so much better than they've ever been, and can offset the loss of the two rentals. LOL

I’m anticipating 2 days of the Canadian media questioning Hellebuyck’s ability to overcome this horrific trend of postseason play.

If he is going to do it, you’d think it was going to happen after Game 3.

I’m expecting a nervous crowd in Game 5. An early St Louis lead and the nerves could run very high. The Presidents Trophy doesn’t get you anything once the schedule is set.

Jets are either the ‘18 Caps who were counted out for their playoff failures and looked down and out 5 times just in that playoff year before they won the Cup, or Helleybuck is Joe Thornton in goaler pads

After game two and the way the Jets shut down the blues in back to back third periods I thought this series was in trouble. The bottom line is it's 2-2 with winnipeg having home ice. Still a long way to go.
