This kids skating/motor is ridiculous
I don’t think his skating is ridiculous. I think his motor is, which makes the skating play up. I think his straight ahead speed and pivots are around average, but his feet are always moving.

Overall, I think Moore is a player that NHL teams will like more than fans. Teams want solid contributors with their draft picks. They often will opt for that over potential. Moore will be a second or third liner. Potentially a center, although I’d say winger is more likely. He’ll be able to play in any situation. Nothing flashy, but the motor and IQ are really good and there’s not much wrong with his game. For me, a second round range player, but I have a feeling his draft range will mimic a player like Liam Ohgren this year and he’ll end up a late first round pick.

I have high hopes for this kid and think he is a bit underrated at this point for the 2023 draft. He is the type of guy GM’s are going to fall in love with - Particularly those that put a premium on character and work ethic.

He reminds me of Ridly Greig in a sense without the nastiness in his game. I think it‘s going to be a big season for him.

Where do you think he’ll end up in the draft, top 10? Or most likely outside of it.

Moore's looked great against MTU. Granted, they have all looked pretty good as it's 4-1 NTDP right now.
He looks good every game. He’s going to go high in the draft. His speed, hands, and overall motor are fantastic. Holds on to the puck too much at times and gets stuck, but he is always looking to create. His hands really are fantastic.

This guy should be a top 15 player. One of the best skaters in the draft. Plays really good hockey. He’s kinda playing in a similar spot as Matt Boldy in his draft year in that he kinda flies under the radar on a stacked team.

The rest of what you said could be valid, but I don’t think the team is that stacked. Last year’s team was stacked. This one only has like 6-7 guys with any type of middle 6 or higher upside.

I was definitely wrong about his speed watching more of him now.

I don’t love his offensive ability. I don’t see more than low end second line potential. His ceiling may even be more high end third line potential. Between hands, passing, shooting, hockey sense, I don’t see offensive components that look better than NHL average.

The skating/motor is ridiculous, and it’ll make him a valuable NHL’er, but he may be no more than Tyler Motte. I would absolutely not take this guy first round, but I think a team will.

Somehow I feel stupid but now that I have watched couple of usntdp games, I kinda like Oliver Moore more than the more hyped guy Will Smith right now? He feels more complete player and he plays bit more straightforward hockey than Smith.

I just like Moore's more complete game. Good faceoffs, good at defensive zone, great skating, decent hands, good pace and playmaking skills as well. Hands might not be elite but that is about it. He feels like a complete center in this team whereas I am not sure if Smith will be a center in NHL. His size should not be an issue due to his high motor.

Is it crazy to like Moore more(puns intented) than Smith?

Similiar style player to Peterka with the skating/motor and lower end but still passable hands/skill level.

Depends on what you value.

The way I'd look at is this..

Moore has the higher floor, so you are likely getting a 3rd line center, good energy, good offense, can play defensively and big minutes for you in that role. There's a possibility he pulls a Dylan Larkin and becomes a cromulent 2C.

Will Smith floor is lower, if he doesn't make it as a top 6 forward, I don't think he's going to have much use. But his offensive skills are more high end, so you'd be betting on a legitimate top 6 forward here who could be a game breaker in the NHL.

Disagree with your take on Smith. He has a high floor and high ceiling that’s why you’re seeing him ranked so high.
He is already a good two way forward and at minimum ends up as a third line two way centre. He isn’t all “skill” - he is similar to Nico Hischer In my opinion.

I quess main thing with Moore is that he can easily be just your next Pierre Engvall type player if he does not hit his highs. I am just thinking that if Beniers worked so well, why not Moore too.

Smith is a guy who dies or lives through his offensive creation. Smith is much bigger project for NHL to me. He is pretty ugly without puck but with puck, he can be magic at times. If his offensive creation does not work, I don't know what he can be in NHL.
