C Noah Östlund (2022, 16th, BUF)

Osti is his nickname? That's hilarious as a french canadian.

Same in some Spanish speaking nations too. But it's hockey - they are the least imaginative nicknames around. Everyone is just adding an "ie" sound to a single syllable for the most part.

Care to explain? I do speak some french, but still don't get it.
It's a swear word. In Québec, most of the swear words come from religious words. This one comes from "hostie" which I think is sacramental bread in English. The most prevalent way to write this swear word would be "esti" but I'd say "osti" is a close second.

Really heating up. He's potted 7 goals and 5 assists in his past 7.

Started the season 1/0/1/+1 in 12 games including a month lost to injury.

Since then, he's 17/17/34/+19 in 31 games.

He's killing it on both sides of the puck, playing 1C for one of the better teams in the AHL and seems to have adjusted very well to the bigger players and smaller ice.

The three linemates from SWE WJC's, Ostlund, Lekkerimaki, and Ohgren, have all done well in the AHL.

Ostlund -36 point in 44 gp

Lekkerimaki - 28 in 32 gp

Ohgren - 33 in 34 gp

At the time of their draft it was debated who was the best, and the question is still open.

4C and net-front on PP2? Eh.
Wasn't a bad first game, solid even. He made a few nice plays and Lafferty and Malenstyn made space for him. Lindy was running them out a few times before he got his ice time cut in crunch time after taking a penalty.

Usually I'd agree that he shouldn't be there, but Krebs has been on fire recently in the 3C spot and I don't think Ruff wanted to move him out of that slot.
