Jared McCann trade about to be another arrow in Hextall's great move quiver.

As we watch McCann be a reliable 30g scorer for Seattle.

No issues with him coming back but it's an interesting time since I think he has a lot more competition for the spots he would be in, in particular, Ponomarov.

But hey, great if he wants to come back. Worst case, WBS is stacked.

Clearly Filip saw how Philip was doing so far since coming from Nashville and realized that Pittsburgh is where Phils and Fils thrive.

I never bought that his return to Sweden had anything to do with Sullivan. He would've had to clear waivers which means 32 teams would've had a chance to pick him up if they wanted to.

I think it was a combination of factors, and I think that somewhat serious concussion he got probably made him question if it was all worth it as well. Serious brain injuries with possible long-term consequences might be worth it at an NHL salary, but not an AHL salary.

I'm guessing in Sweden he's somewhere in between an AHL and NHL salary, with better rules and player safety.

I wouldn't mind signing him to a 1 year deal and just see if he makes the team out of camp. And if he doesn't, we can waive him, and if he clears we can agree to part ways again. Worth a shot for both sides.

Come to camp? To try and make the NHL.
But he’s not going to make the NHL. At this point he’s better served having a steady career in Europe.

Like I know we want the best things for the Pens here, but considering what a younger more established Poolparty has been through this year, it’s be malpractice for Hallander’s management to push for that.

It sucks but we blew it with him and we shouldn’t really even plan on that.

Then he goes on waivers and every team can have a crack at him.

It’s not an uncommon arrangement. Shero did it with Libor Pivko way back when. Didn’t make the team, cleared waivers, went back to Europe.

Yeah, there is no way this makes sense for anyone involved.
It actually makes sense for everyone involved.

I’m sure Hållander will have a clause in his contract that if he doesn’t make the Pens (and clears waivers), he will go back home rather than WBS.

He gets the chance to make more money and play in the NHL. Pens have a chance to get a good young player. If he doesn’t make it, he goes back home and both parties are in the same situation.

I guess, I just don’t really see it. If we had a completely different management and coaching staff, sure. Just seems like a waste. :dunno:

I mean, what is this based on exactly? Is this just a rehash of the "Mike Sullivan hates Euros" argument?

I'm not really seeing anything with his playstyle that makes me think Sullivan would have an issue with his game. He seems to basically just be a bit older and developed Ponomarev. I'd bet on him being used more like Blueger under Sullivan than Puljujarvi tbh.
