6'1, 187lbs two-way center with a big frame. Wouldn't surprise me if he measures in at a bigger size in the fall. Doesn't have gaudy numbers but have liked him in every viewing so far. Protects the puck well and has good balance, good passer, plays with energy. Could use some work on his skating. Was part of the swedish team who won gold at the WHC-17 and had 5 points in 6 games. Also had 2 points in 7 games at the U18's. Looking forward to seeing him develop next year.

Gustafsson is excellent in the defence as well as in face offs. Needs to work on his offensive skills.

I think he's pretty good offensively actually. Like him a lot better in that regard than Oscar Bäck for example. Not necessarily a dynamic player though but just a well-rounded center who can play in any situation. Excited about him.

Playing in his second SHL game tonight. Made his debut a few days ago and was +2.

Bumping this thread so it's possible to search for it.

Has been spending pretty much all the season in SHL so far. 12 games and 2 points in mostly 4th line minutes (afaik).

that's an impressive run. has he received a bump in TOI?

Yes, Brännström as well. Gustafsson is never going to be a great scorer but rarely do you see a 17 year old play center in the SHL. Strong kid for his age and he's always been very good at faceoffs.

Finished the regular season in SHL with 12 points in 45 games. That's more than I thought he'd get. Impressive season from him.

Surprised he's not getting talked about much. He's the only other draft eligible prospect aside from Dahlin to play over 40 games in the SHL this season. His numbers ain't bad either.

David really finished the season strong. He had something like a 5 game point streak a little while back. That skating is not pretty, but I've never watched a game of his and not been impressed.

Reminds me a bit of Sean Couturier in Jr. Big rangy center with solid defensive play but needs work on skating. I think he's got a lot of untapped offensive potential.
