Big, can skate, pass the puck, and stickhandle. Only has 3 points in 13 games in his rookie season, but looks to have a good level of talent, and he's not draft eligible until 2022. Born in Russia, so I suspect he might also be able to play for Russia.

Wow, I am surprised that there wasn’t already a thread for this kid. Already a big guy with the frame to become a real force and he has some really good wheels and confidence with the puck that makes him stand out.

He’s at the U17s with Canada Black right now. While that doesn’t necessarily mean anything, he’s lived in Canada since he was six and played all of his hockey here, and by all accounts he’s excited to play for Team Canada. I believe he still has Russian eligibility, but suspect (and hope) he will be wearing the red and white going forward.

He played defence last night versus Sarnia and looked solid in all three zones. Smooth skater and his style really pushed the play from the backend. He reminded me a lot of a Duncan Keith (prime) or Drew Doughty where his offensive play and instincts were a threat every time he had the puck.

An assist - he needs one because he's been cold lately...

Drafted in the first round, #14 Overall, by the Guelph Storm in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Danny Zhilkin had a breakout season after missing the 2020-21 season due to the COVID pandemic. He started hot right out of the gate with 15 points in his first 16 games. Zhilkin couldn’t quite keep up that pace but still posted 23 goals and 32 assists for 55 points in 66 games. He also added one goal and one assist in four playoff games. Unfortunately, the Storm fell in the first round. They lost in five games to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. It was still a big improvement from Zhilkin’s rookie season. In 2019-20 he struggled to adjust to the OHL. Zhilkin had just seven goals and 15 points in 60 games before the season was shut down.
