There is a link to the actual rankings in the article. He graded us a B, saying the following:

Cup-form Kings capable of being first repeat winner since 1998. 10th in the league in goals for.

While we could argue on where some of the teams are ranked, I'm fine with a B mark for the first half overall. I made have said a B+ just because we are very hot now, going 11-3 in our last 14 games, but that's splitting hairs. It does bug me Toronto is ranked ahead of us though, simply because it is Toronto :laugh:

I doubt he hates the Kings; he picked them to go to the SCF this season, losing to Pittsburgh.

He's just a blowhard who likes to kick a team when it's down, as he did the Kings last season...then he looks like a moron when the team recovers and does well.
 
Craig Button loathes Dean Lombardi and as a result dislikes the Kings. I'm surprised he didn't give them a D and say the fact that they aren't leading the division proves last year's cup run was a fluke. Only Button would be capable of saying something that moronic.

When Murray was fired he ripped Lombardi for having a talent-starved roster and taking it out on the coach saying that firing the coach isn't going to make up for the poorly built team they have. When Carter was acquired he ripped the acquisition saying Carter has attitude problems and is on his third team in the past year. Called it a desperation move by Lombardi to try to salvage his job/season. Also said he believes you need a bunch of good defenseman that can facilitate offense to win and the Kings don't have enough of them to win so they shouldn't have traded Jack Johnson. (Hello Doughty, Voynov, A-Mart?)

Basically everything he said about them was wrong last year haha. It's funny how his personal hate for Lombardi obviously influences his opinions and leads him to make irrational statements. Classic case of a know-nothing guy who just talks with authority and attempts to belittle people to make up for his lack of knowledge.
 
I'm surprised he didn't give us a D because he thinks we need more D.

Button's a jack ass. People actually care what he says? He's the Eklund of "hockey experts".

I only care for his scouting reports. He's a good eye for junior aged talent.

As for the rest of his opinions (including the article in the OP), well his record as a GM speaks for me on that one.

Disagree. Button's scouting is as big a joke as the rest of him. He moves players up and down at random to generate headlines. He is always going against the grain of all other scouting reports. I mean clearly year after year everybody gets it wrong except him? Close running between biggest joke in scouting community between Button and Kyle Woodlief.

Kyle Woodlief is a complete bum. That guy deserve a punch in the mouth for multiple reasons.

As for Button, I'll let his draft record in Dallas do the talking. He did very well there, above average IMO. It's what got him a job as a GM. His rankings do fluctuate, but so do the kids. They are 18 after all. A truer test of if his rankings are good or not is how they panned out 5 years down the road, but it's to early to tell on that.
