Somebody really needs to do an academic peer reviewed 32 page paper on the Sabres since Pegula bought them. Like all misunderstood art they have the capacity both to disgust and fascinate.

As soon as they scored early in the third I knew we were cooked. Dostal was as usual unbelievable though. What a stud.

Seems like this happens in all of the season where the Sabres haven't finished dead last. They dig themselves an insurmountable hole early on in the season with terrible play, and look like they have a top 3-5 draft pick locked up. Then when all hope is lost in feb/march then go on a heater and ruin their draft position and end up picking 7th-13th.

Yeah, Ducks had an insane amount of chances with Dostal pulled, which makes the 16-1 stat worse than it really was. There were a few posts too IIRC, but not sure which team hit them.

Sabres are right on time for their annual "once we were already 20 points out we actually played at a 105 point pace the rest of the way" run. Something tells me they're unlikely to build on the momentum of this one next year too!

You are mostly right; except they lose to the bad teams. Their positive goal differential is mostly from NYR alone
