That's weird, because in MN the main complaint about him was that he did cheat the game.When he played hard he could be a force, but too many times you would see him just not give enough effort on the ice. There were some talk about him not putting the work in off ice.

Yeah, he'll have a game or two here and there where he's invisible...........but by and large, there have been no questions about his effort on the ice.

Yep. I wasn't impressed with him last year.... This year he has been very good.

Hopefully being only 2 years it keeps him motivated

But he could of meant being a solid 2 way guy when saying he doesn't cheat the game

I always feel bad for Buffalo fans.

4 Million for a guy who has only scored 30 points once is an abomination. He also doesn't seem to stay healthy. I feel the 4 million could have been spent better.

For a veteran player willing to stay I’d say this isn’t that bad of a deal. This isn’t a contender tight in cap space. It’s a club with ample cap space and a need to keep their few veteran players. They need more guys like him, not less.

Saw him a couple of times against the habs this week. He really stood out and his post-game interview showed intelligence and maturity. Mentioned he liked it in Buffalo. Not surprised he got a nice deal.

Sabres need more players like Greenway, not less. People telling on themselves in this thread. Greenway may be redundant on other solid teams but he is not on Buffalo.

They probably pay a bit of a premium to get pending UFAs to stay at this point, but I don’t think that’s a horrible deal for a veteran who, from what I can tell, may not be a big offensive guy at this stage but is valuable to the Sabres.

He's not even "just" a two way guy. He's had a couple of different stints with Tage and Tuch....and that line of giants has performed pretty solidly. Greenway is willing to do battle along the boards and get to the front of the net....and that frees up a ton of room for the other two.


That said, he's played best when paired with McLeod -- those 2 just complement each other so well.

I think the trade opened his eyes some. Again -- he's prone to a night off here and there....but otherwise, his effort has not often been questioned.
