8-3 is nice but we need to always remember context. The AFC is very deep this year. Let's say the current playoff teams are essentially locks at this point: Pitt, KC, Tenn, Buff, Cle, Miami, Indy.

I personally think Baltimore is going to lose Tuesday and fall off a cliff. I think the Raiders are probably the only lurking team left that has a real shot.

But say we just leave the original seven in. It's entirely possible that all of those teams finish 11-5 or better. Cleveland is basically a sure bet just based on their SOS moving forward to reach 11 and Miami has a fast track to 9 imo, with a big game against us to clear the season and a legit shot to hit 11. Indy would be the closest to falling out of favor, but they have the Jaguars and the Texans x 2 in the upcoming weeks, which should get them to a minimum of 10 wins.

We need to hit the 11 win mark and one of those wins would really help if it came in Week 17 against Miami. I think we will beat SF and I think we will beat Denver, but after that I have no clue. New England is better than their record and has no fear in playing us. Pittsburgh is going to be a lot to handle, too much so for me to ever predict a win at this point. So we need to close out the games that we should have a hand on, otherwise we're looking at a playoff game at KC at best.

Im convinced we blow the roof off this game if two things dont happen:

1) Allen gets injured. Boy, why did Daboll throw the ball the following play? My dad and I were saying just run it up the gut. Barkley gets sacked, followed by a dumb penalty, and a 2nd and medium turns to a 3rd and 20+.

2) Singletary fumbles. Momentum was in our favor. We were running the ball well. There's no doubt in my mind we get at least 3+ killing a bunch of clock.

Still, the offense needs to be more consistent, and the pass protection needs to be better. Allen's tendency to throw risky passes is getting tiresome. Hopefully he cleans that up. The awful sacks are going to happen, I suppose. Since week 5, the offense has had too many 2019 moments in which they get completely shutdown for an extended amount of time (Yesterday after going up 24-6, 2nd half against AZ, etc...)

Good to see the defense dominate, though. Klein has a defined role on this squad, and is looking great. Cant wait for Milano to come back. Edmunds is trending in the right direction. Tre is playing great again. They're going to keep us in games when the offense sputters.

Following up on my post in the last thread on wins needed to make the playoffs. Currently, there are 7 teams at 7-4 or better.

Steelers - 10 wins - remaining should wins - Ravens, Football Team, Bengals - Gets them to 13
Chiefs - 10 wins - remaining should wins - Broncos, Falcons, Chargers - Gets them to 13
Titans - 8 wins- remaining should wins - Jags, Lions, Texans - Gets them to 11
Browns - 8 wins - remaining should wins - Giants, Jets - Gets them to 10
Dolphins - 7 wins - Remaining should wins - Bengals - Gets them to 8
Colts - 7 wins - Remaining should wins - Texans twice and Jags, gets them to 10.

Ravens probably have 10 wins in them as well.

plus this doesn’t count wins these teams will get playing each other.

10 wins seems like the minimum this year.

It's crazy how deep the AFC is.

Buffalo's remaining schedule:
@ 49ers
Steelers
@ Broncos
@Patriots
Dolphins

I foresee a 3-2 finish barring we rest our starters against the 'Phins. If that's the case- then 2-3 is possible. Probably win 49ers,Broncos, and 1 of Dolphins/Pats. The Steelers will be an interesting game. Hopefully we can build some momentum against the 9ers.

Good to see them 8-3 even while rocking a tough SoS. Ranked 8th before this game. For reference- last year they had one of the easiest SoS. Also, the Dolphins have a very light SoS ranking 25 before entering this week. It's only going to go down after playing the Jets. Next week they have the Bengals, so it should dip even more. They should hit 8 wins next week, but they close out against Chiefs, Pats, Raiders, and Bills. I don't see them hitting more than 10 wins unless we rest our starters.

Week 12: What we learned from Sunday's games

Buffalo Bills 27, Los Angeles Chargers 17

1) In a wacky fourth quarter, as the Bills (7-3) turned the ball over on three straight possessions, it was Tre'Davious White's INT of Justin Herbert that stopped the bleeding, allowing Buffalo to regain its two-score lead. The Bills D, which has struggled for most of the season, held its own against Herbert Sunday, holding the rookie phenom in check much of the contest. Buffalo sacked the QB three times, and White baited Herbert into the pivotal interception. The Bills D held L.A. (3-7) to just three points on those three consecutive turnovers by Buffalo's offense in the fourth quarter. Sean McDermott's D even held the Chargers out of the end zone at the close for good measure. While the Bills defense has been carried for much of the season, if McDermott's unit solidifies down the stretch like it did Sunday, the Bills will be much more difficult come January.

2) Josh Allen's pass game was stymied most of the game by a good Chargers secondary, and Joey Bosa couldn't be blocked, sacking the QB three times. Instead, the Bills leaned on a productive ground game for the first time in weeks. Devin Singletary galloped for 82 yards on 11 carries (7.5 YPG) and Zack Moss went for 59 yards on nine totes (6.6 YPC). Allen added 32 yards and a score on nine carries. Fumbles by Singletary and Allen tainted the game, but the Bills finding the ability to run the ball consistently with their running backs would be big as the weather turns in Buffalo.

3) Austin Ekeler returned to generate 129 scrimmage yards. Bosa was the best player on the field. Yet, the discussion will be once again about the questionable Chargers game management by Anthony Lynn and Co. After making a special teams coaching change, the Chargers still missed an extra point. L.A. mismanaged the end of the first half. Even more mindboggling was a run at the goal line with no timeouts down two scores in the final minute, that led to L.A. not closing the gap and having an onside prayer at the end. The ridiculous goal line calls came after Herbert completed a 55-yard pass on fourth and 27. There was no payoff to that prayer, however. Lynn's squad has too much talent, particularly with a rookie QB playing so well, to have just three wins. For large stretches Sunday, L.A. outplayed Buffalo, won the turnover battle, and yet was down by double-digits for most of the game. Five penalties for 91 yards and a bevy of other self-inflicted wounds led to the latest disappointing defeat in Lynn's tenure.

If we can split the last two divisional games (NE and Miami) and win 1 of the next 3 (@sf, Pitt, @Den) the division is basically locked up.

Miami would have to go 4-1 in their 5 games to over come that.

Really, the goal should be 3 wins which makes the division unreachable for Miami. I think we are locked into the 4th division winner seed, which would mean we'd play the top wild card team. That'd be one of Indy or Cleveland, mostly likely. I guess Miami could be in contention for that, though, I think they are more likely probably the last wild card seed.

If i had to guess:

Pittsburgh: Bye
KC vs Miami/LV
TN vs Indy/Cleveland
Buffalo vs Indy/Cleveland

Looking at Miami's schedule, Las Vegas will be in a must win situation, Belicheck will have a plan for Tua, and Miami's Pass defense can't handle KC.

How Bills is it the first year they’ll hopefully get a playoff home game, no fans can go?

I screamed at the TV as Josh launched that ball off his back foot...there was absolutely no question it would be a pick the second it left his hand. Dumb stuff like that spikes my BP.

McDermott has figured out Edmunds and Klein are terrible in space so he has been sending them. This worked great against LAC with a rookie QB and poor coaching adjustments.

The problem this week is Shanahan is the master of counter-attack, misdirection. If this defense does the same thing they have been doing these last few weeks its going to get sliced.

Yeah, back when Milano was playing I noticed them starting to change things up by having Milano play the more traditional MLB role and having Edmunds and Klein both play up around the LOS, often outside the DE in "over" and "under" formations. Oddly, even without Milano to cover the middle of the field, they've continued doing this. It's a defensive look I've seldom seen them do before, essentially removing the MLB in nickel and having both LBs on the field up near the LOS, with DBs covering the middle of the field instead of the MLB.

Edmunds is terrible in space? What? His best attribute is his range and speed. I'm amazed a how many people dismiss Edmunds because of a few rough weeks while he played through a dislocated shoulder. Newsflash - tackling 200 lb rbs and TEs with one arm is kind of hard.

Klein I can 100% agree with. He has never been known as a pass coverage LB or a LB with range. He is however very good against the run.

Lastly - Shanahan has Mullens as his QB. I don't care how great his play calling is, he has a below average QB who is very limited to work with. The guy has more turnovers than TDs; that is not a recipe for winning in this league. SF has put up 23 or fewer points in their last 3 games (including defensive scores). If the offense plays mediocre, the bills win.

If his only issue was missed tackles or getting blown up on blocks, I'd be with you. But that's not. His biggest issue is the same thing his scouting report coming out of college said it was: he doesn't read and react quick enough and is often a step late because of it.

Fair enough, but 95% of the time, his freakish athleticism makes up for his poor angle. How many PDs does the guy have? His length is a huge part of his game and he is a great tackler out in space when he reads it correctly. He is much like JA in that he has all the potential in the world, but he is still figuring it out. The kid is 22. Most players his age aren't even in the league yet, let alone in their 3rd season.

Speed only matters when he doesn't have to react. Which is why you put him in positions where he doesn't have to process or he plays the same speed as Preston Brown who ran a 4.8 40.

There is a reason why Brown had more tackles than Edmunds who is supposed to be much faster.

The reason why the D is improving is Edmunds and Klein are now being used in roles that are more suited for them.

Allen had just enough in the tank to win yesterday but as the quality of defenses go, he struggled against a mediocre defense. Even the first 2-yard TD pass to Knox was unnecessarily off target. Knox was wide open and Allen threw it high and behind him. He had to make a great catch on what should have been an easy play.

Allen seemed off all day. He's usually able to escape but yesterday was unable to dodge the pass rush. He hurried and made bad decisions including two interceptions and a fumble.

It was good that the defense and running game stepped up by the end because balance is what you need in this brutal sport. I wonder if he was playing hurt.

btw it doesn't look like we have a backup QB.

On one of the angles it appeared to have been tipped.
