Terrible f***in signing. Seriously, ownership needs to remove Adams asap before he does any long term damage.

But.... why?

If they wanted a winger, surely they could have tempted Marchessault for an extra $500k or even an extra $1m. Marchessault at 6 is better than Zucker at 5 even for just for 1 season.

Do you really think 1 mil would have done it? No state tax in nashville, play on a cup contenter, better weather, and better city. Why does he choose Buffalo over Nashville for 1 mil again?

$1m per year extra I meant, so $2.5m total is a chunk of cash. Even Toffoli would have been a better target. I just don't get this deal at all.

ehh, it's for one year, unlike some of the awful FA contracts they have signed in the past. Sabres get a top 6, motivated player. Zucker is a good pro, if he can stay healthy. Will provide secondary scoring, decent two way play, and is feisty. If he doesn't deliver 40-50 points this year, no harm done, you move on next year with no problem, or even sell him at the TDL for a pick.

Don't understand the angst. Would you rather have paid Toffoli 6M x 4, or Marchessault till he is 40?

Zucker has six 20-goal seasons under his belt - including 27 goals in 2022-23. He has enough of a scoring touch to be a productive middle-six forward. Given the fact that he is playing with an eye towards a big contract to end his career, put him in front of the net on the powerplay, and let him put up good numbers. He'll benefit beyond 2024-25, and the Sabres will benefit in 2024-25.

The doghouse
It’s a one year signing for a bottom six role. Let’s them have Zucker for a year and then phase is one of their top winger prospects

Reminds me of Hall. How’d that go again?

Glad we replaced Skinner with.. someone worse, but of the same ilk, at least. Really changin the identity of the lineup there.

Takes two to tango.

$5 million is too much for Zucker but the 1 year gives flexibility so if he's chugging along at 20 goal pace come deadline and the Sabres are out of it then they can flip him for a 2nd or a 3rd and a 5th. If he's putting up 3rd line numbers then can flip him for a 5th/6th/7th.
