Rangers are clearly focused on building out their bottom six and shifting to a north-south game. I like Blais but I hate the asset management. Really hope Laf, Kakko, and Kravtsov take their play to the next level this season, because the Rangers just lost their second best winger.

Buchnevich was the Rangers best forward last season. The return is awful. Ridiculous. Atrocious.

An era where we have won nothing and he has been up & down.

But STL is in a transition retooling phase. They're shipping out vets, not yutes.

Buch is just 26 years old. Blues don't seem to be moving Schenn or O'Reilly. I would have happily given up more to get Schenn or O'Reilly if they were truly "retooling". But they are kind of just, changing things up a bit.

I am not suggesting St. Louis absolutely would have done it. But if I am Drury, that's the type of thing I am looking for in order to move Buch. Or to save Buch as part of a larger trade to get a superior player.

He was one of our strongest trade chips outside of our young high end talent.

Rangers gonna need to spend more marketing dollars assaulting people on the street with huge card board signs and free Rangers jersey to keep this Macy's day parade of a franchise floating.

They absolutely are retooling. Tarasenko on the way out. Bozak/Schwartz's futures in question. Dunn lost in expansion. Perron and Sundqvist on the block.

There's a difference between retooling and rebuilding. They aren't rebuilding. They were happy to get a 26 year old top 6 winger. And I am sure they want to move Tarasenko because he's been a shell of his former self, not because they just need younger. Tarasenko has just sucked of late. They had to lose someone in the expansion draft. I will believe they are "rebuilding" when they move O'Reilly and/or Schenn.

Otherwise, "retooling" just means they are changing things up a bit. Not doing a full rebuild, in which they would just want to get younger across the board.

lmao a quick browse through their thread shows them celebrating. The people commenting they got fleeced are Rangers fans :laugh::laugh:
Of course they are happy to get Buch. They needed a tank replacement. I’m sure they are happy to add him without giving up their 1st this year or next, but it doesn’t mean they didn’t like a laid a lot.

I really want to know what the other 2 deals were on the table for Buch as well. Edge?

Can anyone speak on Blais? What kind of player is he? What is his upside?

Hard worker that thrives on hitting. Really good forechecker. Good along the boards.

He was a decent producer at lower levels. So maybe the Rangers are hoping he can score more with more opportunity. Could see them trying him in the Fast role with Panarin and in front of the net on PP2 but it's a major, major gamble if that's part of the reason they went after him.

Dude I said retooling in my original post. Never ever said rebuild.

Many people like laid a lot. But we didn't get laid, we got f***ed. And not in a good way.

Yes, and I am saying "retooling" does not mean they wouldn't trade someone like Thomas if they were improving. It's not the same as "rebuilding" where you generally just keep your younger players.

I wholeheartedly believe Drury shot his load early. And it cost the Rangers legit return for Buch.

Thoms is cost controlled, they weren't moving him.
