Buch had a great season but we get absolute pond scum for him. Risto who also is a UFA in a year has one of the worst seasons in recent memory and teams are banging down the door to give up 1sts and 2nds.

idk maybe something is wrong with the nhl , maybe 75 percent of GM’s are just dark age morons
Yes.

You have arrived at your destination.

I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that we just overvalued Buchnevich in this league. He's Russian and fancy.

We know one is for sure.

edit: Even though I still think he's just the puppet.

Well a plateau is ok if it is at a high level. I have no problem with Panarins plateau right now. Buch was a near PPG player. You could question that he doesn't approach that again.

Right- but again with consistency issues I could see how the Rangers were not willing to ink him long term if this is his plateau. That’s my point.

Does Drury even know how many days of rationalizing this is going to take me to get over this? I think I'll start tomorrow with, we have Kakko and Lafreniere to step into that ice time anyway. Then maybe on Sunday I'll try Buch was going to demand $7.25MX7 so it was a necessary evil.

Saw this on Twitter

i don't get the hate. sure buch is the better player, but keep in mind what he's in line to receive. theres only so many teams in the market for a top 6 wing looking/able to pay what he'll want.

no one was giving up and elite c prospect. blais also should not be discounted...he's going to be awesome here. not to mention the savings which could prove huge down the line. he's big, fast, plays physical, and has more skill than his numbers reflect. i could see him and goodrow being a fantastic pair as complimentary players.

i'm not sure what was expected for most, but for as worried as i was about drury this move made me much more confident in him. not to mention i love adding a 2nd rounder in this years draft. there's going to be a ton of value on the board, get as many kicks at the can as we can - that pick could end up netting a star.

I feel like if we got Blais and a 1st that would have been a steal for us. Blais and a 2nd (at least it is 2022) obviously feels undervalued. I think I would have been ok with Blais, 2022 2nd, 2022 3rd.

I still pray Strome is bait

I hope so. And maybe he could offload him for practically nothing. But I seriously doubt we would get good value on him. Buch was one of our biggest chips. And we just blew that. I would be a bit surprised if we still moved Strome at this point. But crossing my fingers you are right.

They didn't HAVE to deal him RIGHT NOW. He's probably worth more at the trade deadline after another good season.

I want Kakko, Kravt, and Laf all playing big minutes now.

Sorry, can’t join the chorus and hate it. This is the type of stuff that had to happen.

I think most here overvalued Buch, myself included. I don't think we're doomed to failure because of this by any stretch of the imagination.

Do we really need to be adding picks with how full the cupboard is ?
Also, why has Blais played 40 or under games the past two seasons ? Injury prone ?

Horrible, horrible, horrible trade.

Isnt it in 22?

I like the positivity. Needed. But not getting a star in the 2nd.

Well, trying to find the positives.....He does hit a lot. He was 9th in the league in hits per 60 minutes among players who played more than 30 games last season.

he’s a banger and the roster is certainly tougher.

Are we getting somebody to return a Buch talent for Strome though?

That 2022 2nd rounder is actually valuable considering next years draft yet still, this was robbery
